bundishep you ask a lot of basic questions about well known stud dogs for a breeder, how long you been at this?

Bundishep,

You asked "Jyl, along with Drago I,ve heard you say that you like the Rush dog, do you have an opinion on Quardes ? Do you like other males in america that in your opinion are very breed worthy ?.Also I have never used chilled or frozen sperm before,I would be very interested in hearing about details on that for thoses that have used top studs that they like in Europe as far as shipping sperm goes and if thoses that have done it  if they have had good or bad experiances in doing so,are there Kennels in Europe that are easy to work with for shippng sperm or is the whole thing a hugh nightmare as far as getting AKC paperwork completed and dealing with European Kennels ?"

I do like Rush very much. From the videos I have seen as well as what I have heard and read about him he is what a TRUE GSD should be....  very solid nerve, great working drives and from what I have seen produces very well. I like his pedigree alot too. His pedigree is a mixture of Czech and WG.... as my female is. By looking at Rush's pedigree I will say that he should have a nice combo of agression and prey.... good tracking..... and very nice OB. I like Rush's movement and conformation very much. He is a very well put together dog! An all around true working dog. I personally would take a pup sired by him in a HEARTBEAT.

As for Quardes. He has very nice conformation and I like his pedigree... There are 2 dogs in his pedigree that I like very much. .. Olex de Valsory and Andy v.d Lemper Heide... I also really like his dam... nice female! The only thing I do not care for about him is he has a high ZW score (94). I personally like to see the scores in the low 70s.. or high 60s.. But this is only one little piece of the WHOLE puzzle. As I look at the overall dog....

For me the dog MUST have... good conformation, sound nerve, nice pedigree (now that is a matter of opinion. What one person likes another one will hate.. So when I saw nice pedigree.... I mean that over the generations the dogs (both sires and dams) produce well. )..... good hips/elbows... good tracking skills.... good OB (has a willingness to work with the handler and wants to please).... and a good balance of prey and defense drives. I personally like a 60/40 (defense/prey).

There are a couple males that I like here in the USA...

Mac von der Kine

Tyras vom Schindergraben

Orin z Jirkova Dvora

Bomber vom Wolfsheim

Miky z Tresnaku

Thanks for your insites JYL,it sounds we have very close taste on what we like in our own dogs though I might change the percent of what I like for prey and defence drives for my own likes and what i use my personal dogs for,I,m like you though I try to look at the entire, puzzle = peds, dogs themselves, known producers in themselves or prev.generations,I would also like a dog out of Rush, perhaps more will be avail once he gets back in north america and we will see if some nice females are matched up with him, while Bomber might not be my fav,I have heard by some that they are very happy with progeny they have gotten out of him and I will see Bomber on occation in the peds of some of the dogs I like, the other males you mentioned I will have to look up recearch them and see what they are all about. I try to also get dogs with low ZW scores seems like that number will change over the dogs life time so perhaps Quardes ZW number will come down some, I prefer dogs also that are rated in the 70s but will go higher if the dog is all that and a bag of chips. One has got to look at the entire package its always a give and take thing.

By the way, Quardes ZW is not 94.  Last I saw, it was 89 and I think will be even lower soon.

Name Zwinger SZ-Nummer Zuchtwert
Quardes Haus Ritterland 2269554 93
Quardes Staatsmacht 2213842

94

That´s from today - but it´s not really meaningful, because most of the US born puppies won´t be in the statistic.

I,m assuming ZW scores are based only off of A stamps and not thoses receaving a passing grade from OFA is that correct ? I would also assume that most pups that will be born in the USA will pursue getting OFA instead of going through the SV to try to get an A stamp and who knows perhaps its the females that Quardes was matched up with to be in the 89 to 94 range.Who knows Drago,s current numbers ?
