Have you ever seen the training, time, work, money, traveling to proof not to mention MAINTAINING the quality and consistency to perform, not one time for pass or fail, but two or three performances a day six or seven days a week if you are fortunate enough to get a job at a permanent facility, of "circus animals" ?. Otherwise, it's traveling every day or every two days to a different city, state, and sometime crossing the boarder into foreign country.....All the while the dogs or horses or bull MUST perform without fail. That's a heck of alot more stress and demands put on both the animals and trainers compared to a routine that is dictated to everyone....No creativity required. So, designating " circus animal" an insult is, well, an insult.

The way the ipo dogs are trained to perform is not different from " circus animals" , the main difference being there are instructions which every ipo participant has the benefit of following, a template. Also, in ipo, the handler has only one dog performing at a time....."Circus handlers" usually have multiple animals performing concurrently, increasing the complexity of training. Training "circus animals" requires creativity in the routine and training there of, plus performing in many varying venues, which carries much greater demands for sound temperament and sound, solid training.

Well joan, consider the source of that statement...

I'd also point out that "circus animals" must be able to perform for thousands of spectators, not just a couple dozen, and often the performance is in a blacked out building using spot lights to highlight the subject.....not always on a manicured field on "home turf". Not exactly what I'd consider an "insult" to be a compared to a " circus animal", as far as performing and training goes.

There are several. I have one from a Bomber daughter that is outstanding. There is a Vasco Vikar daughter in Nashville that matches very well with Drago. 2 females owned by Sequoyah German Shepherds that have produced extremely nicely with him.
