What do you with showlines do to determine breed worthiness before you breed a litter?

Teeth Smile I´m not even a breeder...

Basic obligations:

AD
BH
IPO1-3 ( taking a close look at working abilities, I´d always train the dog in question by myself )
V-rating on a show
HD/ED normal / fast normal
Breed survey

Personal preferences:

Civil drives with stable nerves and temperament
no overangulations, no roach back ( although our perception about that is different )
no oversized dog
not too heavyweight
good pigmented, colour in itself not important

Besides that  I´m interested in the ancestors, siblings, and offspring ( temperament, health)

Vk4, although your remark is true for a lot of breeders, the real question should be:
Is there a market for MY kind of German Shepherds ?
I wouldn´t change my obligations, I would stop breeding in case I´m not able to sell my dogs into suitable homes.

thank you Susie for the German Shepherd pre nups by the SV. To answer the question as it is written; for the AKC show dog people [ show dogs could be every recognizable breed in the AKC ] Be certain both show dogs are the same breed. and then god bless you.

Too general, i can break the gsd up into at least 4 distinct breeds albeit with a common ancestry.

Simple proof take the best winniingest akc dog to a german show and see where it places and same with best sv dog and see where it places in the akc.......same breed you say.

now take bsp champ and... well you get the idea.

I don't breed, I have found it to be much more cost/time effective to find the dog I want and pay someone else for their time, effort and investment.

I think the poster "susie" put it very well with her list. I see many dogs with koer that I personally do not consider "breed worthy". I would not own them or anything out of them, but it's the minimum starting point when I begin a search for a new dog. Why should I accept less?

PLEASE, if you don't like showlines don't respond to this thread.  If you must dispute their breeding, start your own thread in the appropriate forum. Thanks.

This question pertains to all showlines, German and American and combinations of both.
