I am convinced and certan overangulation is wrong, I am also convinced steep backs are wrong and I am working towaeds ending my love for them, but I confess I love them badly, look how beautiful Schumann  looks with his marvelous topline and his beautiful reat.

I am still not able to get over this passion for steep toplines and deep rears, oh I love those rears, yes I do not deny that. But I know and my brain tells me it is wrong and it is bad for the dog and the breed and hopefully in short time I will be hating those deep rears and steep toplines.

Now when I critique, I do it on the scale of standard, deep rear is described as it is, steep topline is described as steep, and I feel it is sooner than later I will be loving slightly sloping backs and correctly angled rears.

Trot

My so far knowledge tells me this, efficient trot comes from following elements in sequence

1. Stamina (hopefully it is the correct term)

2. Size 3. proportions 4. weight

5. Ligaments 6. angles and lengths  of bones

Please notice that I kept some in same level (importance)

We have those constituents all messed up in our breed, large size, sretched backs, weak ligaments, deep rears, croups and chests. Many dogs are also lazy, without working on correcting all those elements trot will never be as should.

First impression of a efficient trot is light movement, you should think the dog has no weight, he is about to fly. That can not happen without correct medium size, much lesser weight and sound ligaments.

Why do we keep fooling ourselves about efficiency of those VAS when their rears dance more than they thrust forward, and back is buckling up and front legs swimming high above ground. There is no efficient trot with steep croups and deep rears. I keep hearing the claim deeper rear makes more thrust forward, but what is the use when there is no front that can make use of the extra thrust ? Best front can not cope with over angulated rear, it is all about balance between rear and front, no VA nowadays is balanced, all have more angulated rears than fronts.

Again efficient trot is not only about angulations, it is all above mentioned constituents, owner of best shoulder is not automatically most efficient trotter, neither deepest rear. So that work line enthusiasts do not take the opportunity, I do not mean correct angulations are useless, not at all, but after all they are one part of efficient trot.

So those who are like me, should work hard to channel their love to the correct direction.

thank you for listening

For people complaining that Vegas' gaiting was taken "out of context", I disagree.  Seeing how a dog moves when tired is even more important than when they are fresh, and if that is good motion, I will eat a hat.

i love a good rear and topline, but for me the whole of the topline must be straight, no arch.  I want a well angulated read, but not an animal gaiting off its hocks.  I want strong ligamentati
