"As you know the croup angle is measured from the horizontal, croup being in line with loin means loin too is steep.

Did you go to the show ?"

If the dogs were standing in a natural position, their croups would look much more correct.... They are stacked with their back legs positioned behind a natural standing position and also with theyre hind legs bent, of course in the stack photos their backs look bent and the angle of their croups look steep.

No, I was unable to attend the show. I did visit a V30ish male last week and took particular notice to his natural stance....... his bac is not roached and croup is correct and long..... in his photo urma stack he looks much the same as the dogs posted throughtout this topic.

Weve had the discussion before about how the position of the dog when its posed for the camera makes the dog look different.......
Remember Vanessa? Several didn't believe it was the same dog in all 3 photos of her........

Markobytes

It is important to see how a dog gaits if it can when it is tired,I don't recall anyone saying Vegas was tired. Don't take my words out of context Xeph. I am not going to repeat it again but watch the original film if you can and if you ever had any experience handling dogs you would know what was going on. I like my opinions to be based in fact and I was trying to tell you based on experience that you were missing the real video and along with it, the truth.

One thing to remember is you are drawing conclusions from watching dogs placed in the unnatural condition of pulling against a metal collar attached to a leather strap and pulling a human behind them. A very experienced judge can tell from this action how the dog is put together, the dogs do not act ar look like this in real life. Just as Blitzen was surprised when she saw her straight backed bitch appearing roach backed in the URMA photo, it is better observing these dogs in real life.

I think I understand what Markobytes is saying, I am not sure I am getting SitasMom right though.

Look at this dog

He is stacked correctly, in the rear his hock is perpendicular to the ground. His back is arched, I think we all can see that ! I understand and accept that from photo alone we should not judge him as roached back, we should see his back while gaiting and not straining on a tight leash but in free natural trot. I have no problem with that at all.

But I have a problem if some one is actually saying that the above stack is manipulated and his croup is not as steep it looks in picture and his rear angulation is not as overangulated as it looks in the picture !

By the way I still like and am still fascinated with those beautiful rears, but liking them is way different from saying they are correct When I construct a building, my work should be judged based on drawings received from the engineer, not personal preferences.

I couldn't find a gaiting video for Yalk z Lintichu but from this picture his front reach is very good and his topline is correct, a beautiful dog no doubt

As we should always look for facts, here is V3 Ester Di Casa Nobili, I don't think a front reach could be more than that. I wish we could see shoulder open too

I have a bitch with a strong rear but I don't know how to post a photo

by xsynxa7x on 11 September 2014 - 08:09

she is standing natural and the camera is slightly off but she does not fall on her hocks or walk on them

by xsynxa7x on 11 September 2014 - 08:09

she's clearly a girl but I love her head and intense expression
