1GSDawg:

Some of the people commenting here really understand breeding and what the approach should be in selecting breeding partners. If you are sincere in wanting help with your breeding project, give us the information we need to provide you with the advice you seek.  Post the pedigree of your dog, it titles and degrees. You mention that it is a West German line dog so has it be shown and evaluated by a Koermeister, "Breed Survey Master".  If so provide us with a copy of the Koer Report also.  With those components to review and evaluate, some one might be able to help you. No knowledgeable breed enthusiast that I know would throw out names like you are apparently wanting us to do.

Thank you everyone for enlightening me I am not knowledgeable enough to breed and that my female is no good.

According to you people like me ruin the breed.

I will just go with plan B which is breeding to my neighbors golden retriever.  He has some qualities that will match up pretty well.

I intended this form to discuss strengths/weaknesses of top studs, not just Nino and Chacco and what they can do from a breeding standpoint.

Breeding to your neighbor's Golden might have some possibilities.  For one, you could start your own breed registry. God knows we need another one.  Number two, your's would be the first "Goldgerm Retrishepherd". Finally, it would establish you as a true pioneer in the canine world like Von Stephanitz. Good luck with that project.

If this is legit, which I seriously doubt it is, the responses here are as wrong as the question plus they are cruel and intended to belittle the OP. If you really want to help this person, take it to pm's, learn more about his female so you can help him to  do the right thing. Why don't GSD breeders want to offer genuine help to a newbie?  Most of the response is not even from showline breeders.  Always assume the worst?

And to the OP, if you posted this message intended to  solicit negative remarks about showlines, Nino, or Chacco, then you should go away. On the other hand, if you are sincere then you need to at least post a photo and pedigree of your female and inform the readers here if she has had any health tests, xrayed hips and elbows and if you are training her in any venue. No knowedgable person is going to offer you any advice on how to breed your female unless they have that information as a minimum

Nino and Chacco are both fine examples of their respective lines and both have produced good progeny. However, neither may be the right fit for your female. I'm betting you know that, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now.

If you are sincere, then send me a PM here and I'll try to put you in touch with a breeder who likes to mentor newbies. Reggie has already made that offer to you; you should take advantage of that IF you are sincere.

I like it when you play the victim card, it suits you.  I'd be betting you bought a bitch, with or without titles, you have no idea what she has other than what's on her papers and have no idea how to "match her up" other than what you read on the internet that "this line" mixes well with "that line" and hope you can find a stud with enough marketability you can sell puppies.

I've never really found that people that had a clue as to what they had or where they were going, needed to cast such a wide net on the interwebs in order to find a producing stud.

Waleed, we're talking about Nino von Tronje. Chacco is VA1 Chacco von der Freiheit Westerholt: https://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=596624-chacco-von-der-freiheit-westerholt

Let me give another example as to why you are going about this the wrong way. I know a breeder who imported the son of a very famous VA1 dog, arguably the most used stud of his day. Paid big money, then had to jump through all sorts of hoops and spend more money to get the dog certified for breeding in the States.

He used this dog exactly 3 times, then never used him again, as he didn't like what he produced. Now, if he'd been a less scrupulous breeder, he could have just kept on pumping out puppies, using the stud's famous sire as a selling point. And if he'd been able to resarch the dog more carefully, he might have known he wasn't all that great a dog BEFORE he imported him, but finding that out when the dog is living overseas is difficult.

Blitzen,

Don't lump everyone together.  He posted on an open forum and I answered on an open forum.  I don't need to squirrel him away to discuss things over PM.  It can be discussed in public and it never hurts for everyone to see what is being discussed.

That all said, how is what I wrote different from what you suggested? Reposted below so you can reread it.  The OP has so far resisted all attempts at any education or help and has made several comments that they will decide what is best for their bitch, which as they have stated is simply the best dog.  That's a recipe for disaster for some poor puppies.  BTW this isn't a show vs working topic.

*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

How about posting your bitches titles and ratings, her pedigree, and honest third party evaluations about what is good with your dog and what should be better.

Then asking for input on dogs that complement your bitch?

Because when you breed dogs there is no best to best.  They are living breathing individuals that are complex and varied.  You need to re-read my first post. You have no idea how to breed and you shouldn't be without some serious guidance.

It's never what you say, BC, it's the way you say it.

One of the dumbest breeding plans I ever heard and a case in point for what's wrong with the breed and why it's going down.

bz, it's obvious he doesn't WANT to post his bitch's info in public or he would have done so already. So, pm discussion seems like a logical alternative, unless his btches are not titled or surveyed, and he just doesn't want us to know... Wink Smile

Pretty sure he said they were, though. Don't have time to read back over the posts right now!
