Laris, guess I'm in the Marathon, I love the blend of the SV and Working line dogs, Some here may not agree with it and they are entitled to do so. Others may like it, they also "should" be entitled to do so, However more often than not we are kicked to the curb and receive shaking fingers saying what a bad bad thing we are doing by trying to "get back to" the "real" GSD. With solid temperaments, workingability, trainability, Partners/family members. We could go into "health" conserns as well, Bloat, allergies, other hereditary issues, Are we all breeding to Improve/eradocate these issues as well. I am happy to say we have never seen it in any of our dogs, yet (and knocking on wood) But I'm with you Laris, I'm in it for the long haul and I agree with what your saying 100%!! Ok finding a rock to hide under now, as the stone throwing will begin soon, I hope not though :-) everyone has a right to they're own feelings/thoughts JMO Maybe if we follow the "golden rule" Above all do NO harm, maybe that's how we could look at this discussion ??

Spook, it seems to me that one is damned if they do and damned if they don't. What I mean is if you send your dog out to have a title put on you're crucified for not doing it yourself. If you put do it yourself and get a title put on your dog then someone turns around and says "that title was bought, your dog didn't deserve it". Geezzzzzz, if that's how it really is then everyone may as well just hang up their sleeves and turn their intellegent GSD's into lawn ornaments from now on. It's a good thing you don't win money each time a dog gets a title or all hell would surely break loose. I'm not saying it couldn't happen that a particular judge has a certain interest in a certain dog or handler competing-I've heard stories also, but it's pure speculation OR maybe even a little bit of someone feeling "sore" that they didn't do as well as they felt they should have. Just do your best with your dog, love em and have fun doing it. In the owners eyes his dog is always gonna be a champion.

Agar, I would rather see people train their own dog if only because of the knowledge received. The reporte with you dog is also very beneficial, but secondary. In lieu of training your own, just having dogs trained and titled is of great benefit to the breed. There are some very good trainers out there, but there are also charlatans. Anytime money crosses the palm there is a chance that cheating or fraud may occur. Is this any reason for people to make generalizations as happened above? No. These are usually people who don't have enough knowledge to understand which end of the dog the collar is affixed. Anyone who has knowledge of such a fraud and doesn't report it yet still says they care about the breed is a blatant liar.

DeesWolf, I did not think that you would name anybody or any event. But still, don't throw out these kind of accusations if you are not prepared to back that up. Do right, "Deutsches Kulturgut" does roughly translate into "German Cultural Good/Treasure". Dr. Raiser was talking about our GSD as part of it. Brainstorming is a typical example of the "Englishization" (I just made that word up, lol) of the German language. If my grandmother was still alive, she would be confused about some of the modern words.
