Mysti, Answer a couple questions. Are you already breeding and selling dogs? If so, why are you here asking for help with something so basic as a young male showing his attitude as he grows up and test his place in the "pack"? These are things somebody should have a handle on long before breeding and making more.

by Mysti on 21 February 2007 - 21:02

Yes, animules I have had ONE litter. As I said before I obviously mistook what I thought of him being in pain as him trying to be dominant over me. Hodie you are again making a lot of assumptions about me, Kolbie, and about what has been happening. It just proves to me that you weren't listening to what I was saying or you were interpreting it wrong. It's amazing how you have been helping me with this for a week or so since I only posted my question 4 days ago. You have taken things that I have said to you and twisted them around to your own liking. You are the one who is not honest. Mysti

That's just great. We lose a very helpful, knowledgeable person like Hodie & gain a nitwit like Musty. Hodie, if you are still reading this stupid thread, please send me an email and tell me what other (if any) message board you go to.

"You have taken things that I have said to you and twisted them around to your own liking. You are the one who is not honest. Mysti " Mysti, You obviously do not know Hodie very well. She does not turn things around to suit her. I do know her personally, and can attest to her honesty and integrity. What is interesting is that it obviously struck a nerve with you and is not what you wanted to hear. You know the old saying, "sometimes the truth hurts". Marsha Seck

Mysti, you may have had one litter but you talk of two males and two female for breeding as well as your problem child. You are talking about planned litters as soon as the female comes in season again. Learn dogs, learn training, learn commitment, learn sacrifice for the dogs. It does not sound like you've learned these things yet. If you had you would have realized 19 month old males start feeling tough. For all of your sakes, you, your family, and your dogs, take Trailrider up on her offer to get some training at whatever clubs are in the extended area.

Mysti, this is from an earlier post of yours: "I have used stud dogs of much better quality for example Yasko Farbenspiel and only had to pay a stud fee of 1200.00." Which would certainly indicate that while you may have only had one litter actually come to fruition, you've bred a bitch of yours more than once. Looking at your webpage, I have to be frank: it sure looks like you're all about the Benjamins, and little else. You're planning to breed your newest acquisition, Leo, just about the time he turns a full year of age...too young for OFA (prelims don't count), too young to really tell how he'll mature, just plain too young, period. And you're planning on breeding this yearling male to a female who has nothing to recommend her save for the fact that she's registered, and she's been OFA'd. Not so much as a freakin' AKC Companion Dog obedience title, for Pete's sake! Yet you have the sheer gall to slam hodie for being disgusted with you, after she and several others have tried to help you with a problem that stems from your own inexperience--inexperience which vividly illustrates WHY you shouldn't be breeding German Shepherd Dogs at this point in your canine 'career'?!?! I damn near did a spit-take when I read the section of your home page that touts how you 'temperament test' all of your puppies--if you can't read your own 19 month old dog accurately, why on earth should anyone place any credence in any puppy temperament tests you've done? The problem you're having with Kolbie could be easily dealt with by working with any experienced dog trainer worth his or her salt...are there no obedience classes available within driving distance to where you're located? You've got a problem child on your hands, and the world would be a better place if you concentrate on getting him straightened out and leave the breeding game to those who have sufficient experience in reading and training dogs...and who put the effort in to establishing some sort of credentials for their breeding stock beyond OFA (or PennHIP) and a registration. Hodie's disgust is well-earned, since she spends a lot of her time and her own money cleaning up behind the sort of breedings you appear to be creating; perhaps if you spent a few years' volunteering as a foster home for a rescue group, you'd be less quick to bring more mediocre-breeding puppies into the world.

Whoa Nelly... Hodie I was NOT reffering to you !!

Mysti: Before you put the dog down, I will take him. I will have him neutered and do not need his paperwork. I just do not think he needs to be put down, for medical or behavioral reasons. I would be willing to split the costs of shipping him to me in Ohio. You can email me privately if you want to do so. To hodie: You are one of the top ten or so on this web site, in knowledge of GSD's, and it would be a shame to have that disappear from this site. There are many, many people that read your posts and others posts here, learning something everyday. A few on this site will try your patience, but many will appreciate your wisdom and knowledge and their dogs will be the beneficiaries. Think about the dogs. Even if the people disappoint you sometimes.

Hodie, there are Mysti's in every walk of life, unfortunately. Leaving the board will solve nothing, staying and sharing your experience will. Maybe one day, just maybe one day, the less intelligent will grasp the basics in life and only then take on something that requires a little more thought. We can hope.
