LMG No NOT YOU !! Not at all. ... the person who always makes a mess of any descent thought provolking thread is SPOOK !! And then someone else came in with oh my god "she's a puppy mill" and everyone went bonkers. This whole thread got messed up by misreads,, or shall I say miss posts. My definition of YOU=Anyone here who has the knowledge and capacity to truly jump in and help a "newbie" work through a problem without jumping down they're throat. Why would the "grand protectors" of this GSD breed "RUN OFF" new breeders/sport goers/handlers/trainers ?? It makes no sense. It would make more sense for the "grand protectors" and or "expeirienced peoples" to take these young individuals under they're wing and guide them, without prosecuting them !!! Get they're heads right through guidence, yelling at them here does nothing productive, only makes them leave and then NEVER seek help again. Geez, How the heck did this come at me anyway ?? I said I respected Hodie's posts. I Can't stand Spook, he's an idiot with a giant silver spoon stirring the shit and only grandstanding for his own evil little kicks !! Spook is the epitomy of "thrill seekers" LMH, I have never had an issue with you !! Still don't !!! Absolutely no hard feelers here not with you. Spook and his big spoon however Now that's someone I definately take issue with !! Has not ever said one descent thing about anyone here, has never offered one piece of encouragement to anyone on this board. And voids himself of any responsibility by not answering any question posted to him, but persue's anyone he can relentlessly for things he wants to know so that he can "use it against you" later down the road !!!

Something occurred to me recently. Reading and being involved in some of these "tit-for-tat" postings. There are many different types of people in this world (duh). Some are thrill seekers (sky divers and the like), some of people persons ("hey, how are you today" and those that love to entertain in their homes). Some are dog people (how many times have you read on this dog site "I like my dogs more than I like people" or the famous "The more I know people, the more I like my dog"). My point being, this site is "occupied" by mostly dog people, who do not normally like (except for their immediate families and one or two close friends) people, and just do not "relate" well with people. Passably well, but not really well. This should help us understand why we (us dog people) do not communicate with other people without resorting to "corrections" and "praise". It is the kind of people who visit this site (there are exceptions of course). If someone comes on here with a question or comment about whatever, "we" will correct them or praise them, just like we would do our children or our dogs. Most of us dog people just do not "get along" well with people, at least not as well as those who are not dog people get along with other people. We make exceptions with other dog people sometimes, as long as they fit into our mold of what a person should be doing with their dogs. If I state that I am going to breed untitled GSD', I will be "praised" by a few and "corrected" by many. We are a breed apart from other peoples. No better nor no worse, just "dog people". We need to understand that about ourselves and how we interact on this site. Make a comment here. Expect to be corrected or praised, but don't expect indifference. Lets see the praise and corrections I get for this posting :) Will it prove my theory?

Echo-- I am truly sorry. I see I might have misinterpreted your post--and with all the requests for apologies around here (between catching up, and reading these posts so quickly), I just started typing--just look at all those typos. Again, I am really sorry.

by Ulla on 22 February 2007 - 22:02

Do right and fear no one: I never post, but I had to throw my praise out to you for your post... by far, the best and truest thing I have ever read on any forum... Classic!

by EchoMeadows on 22 February 2007 - 23:02

LMH You don't owe me an appology at all !! I happen to be someone who understands misreads and even miss typed. LOL. That would be me of course who does lots of typos :-) Don't sweat it at all Please !!! You and I have agreed on some subjects and others we have disagreed, But we have "played by the rules" and not gotten feelers hurt over it, just different views that's all. I totally respect every post you've ever made. It's all good here LMH. Do Right, OMG You SO NAILED IT !!!!! I would add that each of us has a right to our own opinions/feelings. and should understand that to be true. We might not like someones opinion/feeling but that person has a right to it, it is they're own and no one elses. Hope that makes sense.

I have a great deal of experience with German shepards and temperment. My training was especially useful after I alpha rolled my 94 pound intact dominant male that I just picked up from the pound. What a sweet dog I thought he was! Just sitting there, in the back of his cage, barely even growling. We got him home, and sure he was nervous... you would be too if you had half a dozen little red-headed brats throwing popcorn at you. I KNOW German shepards, I've been breeding them with my neighbors dogs for years. So, I decided, since he's already nervous in his new home, that I would catch him by surprise! I darted out from behind the couch as he was settling in on the floor.. I grabbed the big guy from behind and immediately alpha rolled him. It worked GREAT! You can barely see the scars on my face anymore. After that, we developed a wonderful relationship. He really knows who the boss is now... sometimes he even lets me sleep on the bed with him. It's ok though, the floor is probably better for my back. He's a really wonderful dog, he even takes me for walks now and then. I think he is a great ambassador for the breed. That is why I'm trying to get my neighbor to breed his Aphgan (dog) with mine - I've heard they are one of the most inteligent dogs out there, hairy too. Good luck, if you need any training advice, don't hesistate to ask.

...I darted out from behind the couch..." What a mental image you've spurred! :) This is just TOO freakin' funny!!
