Lovely chunk o' pup!  Did I miss an update post about Megy's delivery? I saw that you updated on Aria's litter in the post earlier in the month when Megy had that discharge episode, and that you were only seeing two pups on Megy's images. Hope this doesn't mean only one made it after all...it's always sad to lose a puppy, even if it's what was best for the pup. So, is this a bi-color Capri granddaughter, or a grandson? Your wrist is in the way in the second picture, so I can't tell...and if this is a singleton pup, I can't just go by the amount of substance, especially given that Mama Megy is no petit fleur herself.

I haven't posted much lately. Been swamped with medical nightmares here. My import, Veronika, and her brother arrived and 36 hours later were sick, and whatever it was spread and got Megy and Aria both sick, despite my attempts to quarantine Veronika & brother.   Really maddening because they most likely picked it up at Petair's kennel where they were NOT SUPPOSED to be except for a couple hours prior to flight. But, they were picked up on the wrong day thanks to a real twit and were not shipped the same day they arrived, so they were taken out of their crates and put into kennels, which is exactly what we'd been trying to avoid for exactly this reason!   The other pup's owner dubbed it "Viro Petairius" LOL. 

Aria was much sicker than than Megy, but Megy hadn't had her pups yet and Aria had. Aria was deathly ill (vomiting to the point of requiring IV fluids and on the verge of sepsis) when they were 3 days old. The night the ultrasound showed 2 healthy heartbeats in Megy, she ended up sick. I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but Megy only had one live pup. Capri didn't get it (of course, Lady Bionic) and Megy had a very mild form, but all my domestic- born dogs got very sick. Even huge, young, uber-healthy 2yr old Dallas lost quite a few pounds and didn't want to eat for nearly a week. Everyone got it, right down the line, just like dominos, right down to the Chihuahua. 3-4 days of horrible diarrhea, varied vomiting, and then no appetite for a few more days. 

I wonder if it might be some form of something (a coronavirus maybe?) that is more common in Europe, as Capri and Megy were in so much better shape than my non-imports. Maybe they'd been exposed before. Could be completely coincidence, but maybe not. Megy was only sick for about 36-48 hours and very mild. Vet has no idea. She saw Aria, all her pups, and Megy and was stumped. Gotta give her credit- she left a holiday party at her own house to see my mutts and got nasty diarrhea all over her party clothes. Love that doc! 

Anyway...he's big but not as big as he looks. I have very tiny hands and in the pic w/his mom, she's further behind him than it looks. He is 4lbs. He's a little big because he's a singleton, but really, he's not a whole lot bigger than some Capri pups of the past, and both of his parents are quite substantial, so I think there are equal parts genetics to equal parts singleton-ism at play. With grandparents like Boy and Capri, I didn't expect diminutive. Megy has just enough milk for him and I don't let him nurse constantly. Soon he will be playing with Aria's pups for social skills. 

Wow, sounds awful! Is everyone back to normal now?

Nightmare. I will never again import ANYTHING when I have pups due. I figured it would be ok if they went right from breeder's home to my home, but thanks to Petair's incompetence...............

Yikes.  I figured with two litters, even if one of them was small, a young kid and the holidays approaching like a runaway train, you'd have your hands full, so wasn't surprised you've been incommunicado...but I sure didn't imagine an all-hands-on canine health spiral on top of everything else!  Very weird that your foreign-born adults were less affected than your US-born dogs, but as you say, perhaps there was earlier exposure when both Capri and Megy were still on the other side of the ocean. Wouldn't find it surprising if the illness triggered the discharge and the subsequent loss of Megy's other puppy, too, but you probably will never know that for sure. Glad to hear that everyone pulled through, especially Aria & her pups--such a vulnerable time for her babies, given how sick she got, but perhaps the colostrum from her contained enough of an antibody assortment to keep you from losing any of those babies. 

And lucky for this fella you've got another litter nearly the same age for him to learn his canine manners with!  Looking forward to seeing pics of the rest of the entire tribe, and your new youngster as well.  

That puppy is so cute, its expression is older than its real age. And I am happy your dogs are fine now.

I like and follow your posts, but this is one of few times I feel like a stranger. I almost understood nothing from this one
