Thanks guys. I think we're all on the mend. I wasn't trying to complain. Hate losing pups but I was overdue. You just can't be in dogs too long without those things happening on occasion. Never lost a pup before...actually only ever had one stillborn, which is very, very lucky odds considering...1 pup out of 9 litters?? Really fortunate! Must look at the big picture no matter how sad it was to lose the sweet little guy. Stillborns are easier to handle than having a 3 day old suddenly take sick and die. However, losing Aria would have been far worse than losing the few weeks' sleep it took to preserve the others. Broken Heart

Jackie, so sorry about your eyesight, but I've heard that is often the case- close up vision suffers far more than ability to drive. Hope you're feeling ok otherwise.

Megy's pup is so much fun. I have never had a singleton before so I don't know if he's normal for one or not, but he just seems terribly advanced for his age. He is 3 weeks old now. Still no name, lol. I will upload pics tomorrow. The tiny human was up all night sick so I haven't slept yet from the night before last. I'm getting really good at this! Tongue Smile I can honestly say it doesn't really bother me anymore!

"Hate losing pups but I was overdue"

I said pretty much the same thing this summer, when I had a heifer whose first calf was WAY too huge for her to birth without help, and without losing the calf. It's the first one I've lost since I started raising and breeding beef cows and calves 8 years ago--and considering that the first heifer I bought had twins on her first calving and raised both successfully, I've been really lucky.

Most singleton pups I've known do tend to be more advanced in their development than pups in usual-sized litters; I think it's due in part to them having their mom's undivided attention, plus our own tendency to fuss with them a bit more because there is only one and we don't get mobbed by a horde of hooligans when going into the puppy pen or room...  It's good that he'll have Aria's clan to enlighten him that contrary to his experiences prior to meeting them, the world does NOT in fact revolve solely around him. Wink Smile  It will be a rude awakening, I'm sure, but once he adapts he'll have great fun having brothers and sisters.

Glad to hear that everyone is now on the upswing there and you'll be able to return to something resembling a normal sleep pattern soon.

Honestly, I think Aria's pups get more human attention. Mother dog attention, obviously he has that market cornered. Aria's are right in my work area of my kitchen, whereas Megy and pup are in my bedroom. There is always someone in Aria's pen. I expected Mr. Solo to be bigger, but he is very "old" seeming. I guess it could just be the genetics; I do like that "old soul" type and it's a big part of why I bought Megy. Caleb was like that. He never acted like a puppy. This guy is now climbing out of his box to follow us, then climbing back in when Megy gets in or when he gets tired and wants to nap. He also climbs out to potty. He wanders all around on his own accord, gets himself cornered and uncornered without getting upset, and just in general seems wise well beyond his weeks. I'm thoroughly enjoying him!

Here he is, last night.
