Its all very well to say you are breeding a 'different' line of dogs

and expecting them to be free - or have a reduced incidence of -

a genetic fault, eg HD, ED.  It is entirely another to (a) claim this

and a few other "cosmetics", like oversize, make that line a whole

new 'Breed';  or (b)  claim improvements to it with any conviction.

Where are the significant numbers of radiographed dogs recorded

which  show this decrease in cases ?   Where is the publicly available Stud Book ?

A salutory story for those posters outside the UK (and maybe even

some inside) :  we had a very successful - and well respected -

GSD breeder here, who was also a qualified Vet.  She thought

she had a method of linebreeding her choice of dogs which would

eventually eradicate HD  (elbows were not being thought about this

early).  So although not claiming she had anything but 'GSDs', and while playing her cards close to her chest, she set out to breed many litters.   Sadly, not only did that not work, as a proportion of

the puppies still turned out to have HD,  but she fell into that sad

space where she took money for sick pups;  wouldn't let anyone

on her premises;  failed to produce Registration papers;  ended

up being taken to Court several times for animal neglect;  failed

to keep track of which dog mated which bitch (they all ran loose

together);  and finished with the in-breeders nightmare results of

dogs with no eyes, deformed limbs, and so on.   Just a caution !

I have read about these dogs, geography and politics kept populations of GSD apart from each other at certain moments in time, and now some groups look different from others.
This dog I found in the database looks a lot like East European Shepherd.
