Sunsilver

I told her she reminds me of that guy in the Li'l Abner cartoon, who always has a black cloud hanging over his head!  :(

Hoping for an easy, problem-free delivery for Gwen!

I'm rooting for Valentine's day, and 10 puppies...we've got a bit of an unofficial pool going with friends and family. It certainly LOOKS like it's going to be a big litter, judging by how quickly she started to show!

Might be worth doing a 'cleansing' with some sage 'round the place...certainly can't hurt any!

The word from Kellie's doctor is the cyst was the size of a mammoth grapefruit, and had twisted back on itself so it was cutting off circulation to the ovary. Her life could have been in serious danger if it hadn't been dealth with promptly. It was also putting a lot of pressure on the bowels and causing nausea and severe digestive problems for the last few years, which they were blaming on other things. She was actually on a medication that helps food get through the digestive tract, and had been hospitalized 4x in the last year or so for abdominal pain and vomiting, without them really addressing the cause!!  Angry Smile

Idiots!!  They did spot the cyst last time this happened (in the fall) but didn't think it was big enough to be causing the symptoms. A couple of days after that trip to the E.R., her family doctor looked at the test results, and told her she'd had toxic shock syndrome!  Roll eyes

I despair of the medical profession sometimes!

At least when I suffered similar symptoms back in 2000, the problem was properly diagnosed, though I did have to wait nearly 3 months for surgery.

Yikes...well, let's look at i this way--her luck IS changing for the better, because they got the cyst out before it could burst and cause a generalized septicemia, when the ER could have blown it [yet again] and her life would have been at serious risk [again]. So despite the trip to the ER and the emergency surgery and the attempt to cause anaphylaxis by giving her codeine, she's made it through ALL of that safely and no longer has a grapefruit bobbing around inside her abdominal cavity where it didn't belong.  Thumbs Up

That's very true, Hexe! She's going to be a new, much healthier woman!

Went to see her yesterday after church and took Gwen along. K came down to the lobby in a wheelchair to visit with her. Still on a morphine drip, and using it pretty heavily. The cyst DID burst as they were taking it out. It was so big, the doctor had to make a larger incision than he'd planned.

Gwen is turning up her nose at her very high-quality dog food, but of course, willingly scarfed down a donut K. offered her, and nearly took a couple of fingers along with it!  Roll eyes (No, she doesn't normally get human food of ANY sort...)

I know it´s not easy right now, but in case the pups are born healthy and there are any potential buyers, try to get your money back immediately ( deposits ? ).
You have to think for yourself right now, everything else is not your problem!

Easy to say from far away, I know...
All the best,
Susie

Two pups are spoken for already, Susie, so I should be getting some money back soon!

And it turns out the husband's job situation may not be as bad as I first though. He managed to total his boss's old Jimmy (the vehicle was a wreck to start with, and had bald tires, which were a big factor in causing the accident) so now he has no way of getting to work. Of course, the boss was upset, and said, "too bad, if you can't get to work, you don't have a job!"  If he could somehow work out a ride with someone else (nope, NOT going to be me!!) he could get his old job back. There's also the possiblity of a job with someone who lives closer to home, and is willing to give him a ride.

Prayers to your friend and excitement for Gwen.  We need a litter of puppies to get this year going in the right direction.   Seems like the year is going backwards, so we gotta turn it around.

So, anyone want to guess Gwen's due date and number of pups? I'll try to post a picture of 'the belly', which is getting bigger by the day!

First tie was (I think) Dec. 16, last was Dec. 21. They were going at it like a pair of horny bunny rabbits for her whole receptive period! No sooner would you turn them out together than...oops! Better get in there, so I can supervise, and get the male turned around!

This Is likely Gwen's last litter. With previous litters, she generally hasn't gone the full 63 days.
