Lets have a contest. See who guesses the closest to the actual costs to import a puppy.
Here's what you have to do. Guess the imported price of a puppy born in mid Nov. 2006. Apply all the importing guidelines and anticipate hidden costs to come up with the total cost to buy a pup and ship it here to the US.
Here are the rules.
Judges'(That's me)decision is final. There are no prizes other than being the winner for all to see how smart you are.
Here's the situation:
You have bought the previously mentioned nice 600 euro puppy near Cologne. It comes with it's shot book and SV pink papers included.
The breeder does not want to drive to the Frankfurt airport in the wee hours of the morning so you will have to make arrangements to have the puppy picked up and taken there. To make this fair for everyone, we will assume you do not have an aunt that lives in Cologne that will do you a favor and get up at 3:00am to pick up your puppy and drive it through the snowstorm to the airport for free.
The pup is being shipped to the Washington DC area. The costs stop when you get your pup into your car. Costs for you to get to the airport are not included.
This is a lump sum guess, you do not need to show your work. Judging will be tomorrow. Good luck.
800.00 EUR = 1,053.20 USD rounded off. :o)~
Oopps, in cluding the pup 1,400.00 EUR = 1,843.10 USD.
Does the flight arrive before customs at your local airport closes, or no? ;)
For the sake of the contest. The puppy arrives while Customs is open.
Answers should be in US dollars.
