And if she were mine, I'd have insisted she be returned, I'd take care of it, and return her to them when she was in the condition I'd promised, OR I would refund them the purchase price but all responsibility for her and her health would be mine.

How can anyone pass around a dog like this? And what did you expect from a breeder in Serbia? Disgusting.....I'd be ashamed to admit I was a part of this.

Jen, nix on sold as pet. The kennel who paid 1500 needed a 'nice proven titled bitch for their program in MO'.

AND...by the looks of her pedigree, this poor girl already had 4 litters in Serbia, prior to be sent out to be part of two others breeding programs...SHE was born 2011

   WHAT A SHAME...

I agree with Kitkat.  Now is not the thread or topic to shut up on.  I have kept quiet on similar threads like this one in the past.  But this one makes me sick.  This poor female dog with a supposedly sweet temperament is just a breeding machine at the age of 4??? What is wrong with you people?  And now that she is diagnosed with heartworms, she's a problem dog.

Maybe because I recently saw a story about a little 3 month old GSD puppy who was surrendered to Animal Control because the owner took the pup to the vet and was told that the pup had parvo.  So the owner relinquished the dog to AC because he did not want to pay the medical bill to treat the pup for parvo!!! Again!  What is wrong with you people?  The pup is a problem, but the owner should have known that pups cost money and sometimes way more money than the original purchase price, as do breeding females who happen to get sick too.

Call me old-fashioned, but when I make a commitment, I keep it. If I bring home a pup or a grown dog, he or she is mine and I care for him or her to their dying day.  And don't tell me in this case, Mitchell Haus, that you couldn't keep this female for lack of room in your breeding program.  I looked at your web site.  You imported her in whelp.  You kept her long enough to wean the 11 puppies, and then you promptly got rid of her.  How much time is that? 4 months?  Wow.  But now her story is coming back to haunt you...

Maybe those 11 puppies can now help you financially pay for the mother dog's medicines.

I wish I could like your post more than once, Zenit. Of course we will be considered pet people you know since we think a dog deserves a forever home regardless of whether of not it turns out to be V material, a podium dog, or a dog that can provide it's owner with a living of 2 litters every year. My current dog had 7 homes in 3 1/2 years for various reasons like - too protective, too big, not enough room to keep her, not good enough to special, too many puppies in her first litter, yadda, yadda yadda. You would recognize some of the names of her previous owners, most are very well known in the GSD world. I agree - what is wrong with people?

by joanro on 25 March 2015 - 14:03

There's nothing wrong with being responsible 'pet people'. The persons, in general, who make a living with a dog as a partner and may depend on their dog for survival ( professional detection dogs, PSD, s&r, etc.) do not impose their standards upon other dog owners...most don't concern themselves with what others are doing in the realm of dog ownership.

by Blitzen on 25 March 2015 - 14:03

Joan, I totally disagree. Pet and show people  on this forum are generally considered one and the same and second class citizens by the hard line working people. Or course they try to impose their standards on the show/pet people here. That's not what this is about anyway, it's about using a dog as a puppy machine to earn a living.
