MAGIC HUAS YOUR WHAT WE CALL A BLEEDING NACKER

Magic haus = Mitchell haus

In answer to the original question, first off, unless I'd paid to have a heartworm test done at the time she was examined for her health certificate and came up negative, I'd have been surprised if she WASN'T HW+ when she arrived--what makes anyone think that in countries where the average person has a hard enough time earning enough to feed, clothe and care for themselves and their families [such as Serbia and several other of the Eastern European countries], there is extra money to be spent on 'non-essential' things such as HW testing and consistent use of preventatives?

Next, if I were purchasing the dog and had paid to have a HW test done, and she came up positive, I'd most likely still go through with the purchase anyway, because if I refuse to do so, I'd always wonder what happened to the poor dog otherwise.  I wouldn't be in exactly your current position, though, since if I were importing a female in whelp, it would be because I wanted HER, not just the babies in utero, so she wouldn't have been sold to someone else as soon as her pups were weaned...she'd still be with me and recovering from having already pushed out five litters in the forty-one months she's been alive [an equation that causes me to wonder when there was time for her to be trained and trialed for an IPO 1?]  If I wasn't interested in keeping HER, and only wanted a puppy from that particular pairing, I wouldn't have bought HER--I would have let the seller know that I was interested in a male from that litter, and asked them to forward my contact info to whoever purchased HER.

As for what I'd do about the seller, well, I'd certainly let them know that she's HW+, in hopes that they might check their other dogs, but other than that I wouldn't be seeking any recompense from them--one of the chances you take when you import a dog from overseas, regardless of the breed, is that you may be importing illness of various types right along with the dog, given the lack of much in the way of health requirements we have in the US for dogs entering the country. IF I were importing anything other than a baby puppy from Eastern Europe, for example, I'd want to see negative test results for HW, brucellosis, babesiosis, and anaplasmosis, or I'd be expecting there to be a good chance that dog will be coming with one or more of these issues.

Then again, I don't breed for a multitude of reasons...this kind of thing is but one of them.

The idea of selling/buying a pregnant bitch is not at all appealing to me. I realize it is a widely accepted practice in the GSD world, but it seems so cold.

It´s trendy to buy dogs from Eastern Europe, they are cheap... ( and it´s trendy to ship dogs over there for titles, fast, uncomplicated, always successful... Clown )

This may be off topic right now, but the 1. litter of Kimmi ( Xemo/Kimmi ) was announced on the Boghaus facebook page on Januar 18. 2013 with a picture showing at least 4 weeks old puppies. So Kimmi was 12 months old when she was bred for the first time.

Whoever is looking for dogs - there always is a reason for "discount" dogs. These dogs are commodities, they are bred and raised to make money ( for a lot of East Europeans the only way to make good money ). They don´t care about animal welfare, and they don´t care about rules.

Please, scrutinize not only the dogs in question, but the owners/breeders, too. Otherwise you are supporting the system with your money.

Well Mitchell haus, I hope we have answered your question and addressed your concerns about YOUR HW dilema....

Now, don t you think this dog that lined everyones po kets deserves a frigging break?

by joanro on 26 March 2015 - 12:03

Poor Mitchell house, little kimmi is due to come in heat next month and these pesky heart worms had to show up. Well, if kimmi survives the toxic treatment for hw, but is too weak to stand under another stud dog, this just might be the first time in her young life to skip a heat cycle. Maybe she will have a chance to recuperate...but I doubt it.

heartless .every dog you own should be treated like your best friend .worried whether she will breed but not if she will recover shame on you. if you had any shame

Just one more example of a bitch used as a puppy machine; that's nothing new in the dog world. Most breeders who practice that sort of animal abuse aren't dense enough to talk about it on the net. Not sure what sort of response the op expected. I hope someone buys this bitch and gives her the home she deserves. I wish I could.
