My husband used to complain about how the dog in my sig picture was always nudging him in the crotch. "Her accuracy is amazing," he said. "She always gets me right on the head of my penis!"

He died of bladder cancer in 2004....  Cry Smile  It went undetected by the doctors, despite TWO cystoscope examinations (where they put a lighted tube up inside the bladder) until it had already spread to the bone. Sad Smile

In that article the part GSD actually was detecting thyroid cancer, but the snip view makes it look otherwise. This was going on years ago with dogs detecting melanoma, and nothing came of it.

anyone got any up to date info on cancer sniffing dogs etc, i fear a lot of it is a scam to attract funding and to take money off desparate people.

would like to see formal peer-reviewed papers on it, anyone?

I'd love to see it, even the airports have Sniffing machines instead of dogs in some cases. Cancer detecting Dogs - Part 1 | Extraordinary Dogs Published on Nov 1, 2012 Maureen had her life changed when her dog Max started to act differently around her - Maureen, sensing her dog's strange turn, went to the hospital and found she had a cancerous tumour.

There are 2 people on this board who have owned cancer-detecting dogs: Sunshine (Galaxy von Ajay) and Kalibeck (Ansgar)

Sunshine told me Galley also detected her father-in-law's prostate cancer!

Sunshine (Maren's) post about her cancer is her second one on the page I linked to. Galaxy, who has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, was a pretty incredible dog!

My browser won't let me cut and paste Blitzen's post from the previous page of that thread, so please have a look at it if you're curious about his accomplishments. As she said, we all should have such a house pet!  Teeth Smile

Galy was an exceptional dog.
