I should have been clear that I wasn't reffering to THOUSANDS of mail carriers all across the US? I am sorry you did not not find it clear that I was referring to one locality, as I am not telepathic either! How asinine to believe one opinion from one employee could correctly represent over 500,000 USPS employees?

Personally, I am disgusted by the hatred I saw in this thread toward those in uniform that all of you, without exception, depend on for your safety when things "go South". Today, I have lost a lot of respect for people on PDB that wont be earned again. Now you can go ahead and "dislike" this response all you like.

I have no respect for those who use a badge or a gun and a uniform to do evil.  These people aren't patriots or heroes they are thugs, killers and murderers.  Strip away the uniform and the badge or gun and the dirty cops and military are no better than the criminals and they are the reason things will go South even faster because they grease the rails for crime, corruption and wars.  The police and the military can clean up their ranks anytime they want to when they have the guts to do it and stop protecting those within their ranks doing evil.  The very fact that cops wearing body cams have fewer violent confrontations and citizen complaints tells us where the problem lies .. hopefully the public will demand body cams and have a zero tolerance for cops turning them off or losing the evidence when it suits them.  It seems sometimes dash cam footage from cruisers has been lost or the camera turned off at just the moment it was needed.  It would have been great if the cop who killed Geist in his own back yard had been wearing a body cam so that we could have seen why he killed the dog in his own back yard.

Bubs,

You are throwing all LEOs and military in the same boat.

There are good and bad in everything. There are terrible and unethical dog breeders in the world, do you have a blatant hatred towards all dog breeders just because there are bad ones? What about the good doctors, dislike them too because there are bad ones?

You are doing the good serviceman and women a disservice by having such a bitter mentality.

As a military and LEO family, I concur with hired dog.

If the military and the police don't want to throw out the stinking killers and murderers in their midst then they will have to live with the smell.  Video tells a different story that the cops never tell when they are caught in the act.

America just had a Police officer killed in the line of duty in Phila. He was a customer in a store, looking to buy his 10 year old son a birthday present. While he shopped two armed citizens entered the store to rob it. The police Officer died, no innocents were injured. When Africa suffered the worst out break of ebola last year, it was the armed forces of the great USA who went to help the medical personell quell the out break. I bet there are many multiples of stories like these for every bad story. God bless America to work on solving the problem. The solution will require the involvment of our police and military and an understanding public.

we had possibly the most corrupt and brutal police force in the western world since Al Capone in the US, they were self-serving bullies, thugs and career criminals dressed in blue and wearing a badge. they were rotten from the top down.

the public lost all confidence and good law abiding citizens were scared.

it takes the utmost courage to stand up to your partners, organisational hierachy and policial masters but brave and good men and women in the force itself and in politics did it and turned the whole thing around jailing the top cop and some top level politicians in the process.

things changed and now we have imo one of the most proffesional, curteous, intelligent, best trained, best equipped, best selected, efficient, highly functioning and much loved police force in the world.

added to their credit they just dismantled the bastion of organised crime ie the most violent OMC's in the country.

selection, training, leadership, transparency & accountability to the public is the key

here again in bold;

selection, training, leadership, transparency & accountability to the public is the key

we're all human but good cops are super-human.

get the leadership right and the rest will fall into place.

The Fitzgerald Inquiry refers to Australia ( Queensland ) as I assume so do the comments VK4GSD that were made about the police force in your post  .. the Capone era and alcohol prohibition in the USA fueled an era of police corruption and organized crime in the USA in which the police were active in cooperation and the running organized crime.  The war on drugs has had the same effect unleashing torrents of money that fuel the criminal element both in and out of the police and politicians.  Geist was killed because of arrogance by the police and indifference by the public.  Body cameras would be a good start in that the police could not make false statements as easily claiming self defense.  The police in the USA have always had an element from the street to the highest of leadership that tolerated and participated in criminal activity for personal gain and those same elements have always claimed that the price of public safety was turning a blind eye to their illegal activities.

Baltimore police killed a dog by slitting her throat .. the dog made eye contact or ran away??  What was the reason??

https://www.facebook.com/JusticeForNala

If cops are not decent enough to stop shooting dogs then legal action may be the only way to stop our increasingly militarized police force from using violence

http://reason.com/blog/2014/08/11/if-decency-wont-stop-cops-from-shooting

The police are very active in theft rings and drug trafficking all over the USA .. very often they steal from the criminals but my introduction to police corruption involved sheriffs deputies who ran a theft ring stealing farm equipment in an adjacent county in MS .. they had a nice catalog with photos of the equipment which proved useful when the idiots were caught.  A police officer callous and arrogant enough to steal and deal drugs and stolen merchandise is not going to be worried about shooting your dog or you if it suites his purposes.  Cars, money and drugs confiscated from drug dealers and drug thefts have fueled corruption in the police forces and state police all across the USA.
