I understand why it was done and am happy that people who can't play nice are being blocked.

I don't think anyone can access their pedigrees right now, Yogi. I can't either and I own some dogs listed in 2 different breeds, none of which I generated originally. I did generate one of a dog owned by a friend out of my female. I think Oli will find a way to correct it. Proof positive that one can't adminster a dog forum depending on the honor system. Why would anyone want to change a pedigree of a dog they don't own?

He also mentioned allowing members who loved working on pedigrees to be assigned edit rights.

Interesting, GSD Admin.

Is there any way to sign up for that?

According to what I was told if you created the pedigree you should be able to edit it. This may only work in the beta version. Try to edit in the beta version and see what happens.

It may be a few weeks before we can assign edit rights so Sylvan when this component is added I will contact you.

I will ask Oli if he has tested editing by creators. Maybe there is some kind of glitch.

To answer Blitzen, I have changed dogs I don't own for several reasons, like to add titles I know they have, or update health info, especially if they're involved in a breeding I'm doing. Or maybe there is no photo and I happen to have one. A lot of people use PDB as gospel truth and sometimes don't check working-dog.eu which is sometimes more updated for Euro dogs. Also, people email me and tell me one of my pups attained something or passed their joint clearances so I'll update them. And sometimes I will change a dog that I *now* own, though I didn't own when the dog was put into the system.

Unfortunately, for every person like me, there is some loser, busybody troll who just likes to screw things up. I had a real winner change Capri's ped when I first got her. Undid her show rating, her Korung, put her tattoo number in one digit off (because they copied it from Win-Sis Cat, which was wrong), changed her birthday, took out her SchH1...and why did this individual do it, you might ask? Well, seems I angered him in real life because he was something of a lonely stalker type and he undid those things because he didn't believe them to be true. Texted me telling me that it was impossible for her to be KKL1 because she wasn't titled.  Playing cop. I changed them because I was excited I'd just gotten the phone call that she'd completed all that stuff (Korung, trial, etc.) and it was not yet published. Apparently, I should have called him to notify him BEFORE I changed it in the database. He did apologize but it was a pain in the butt. And the wrong tattoo number STILL crops up now and again. Not that it matters.

And do we all remember livelywillow or the other names that troll used? Changed sooo many pedigrees to reflect false, detrimental information, targeting specific breeders and any friends of theirs. That was a major bummer because all comments were lost forever. Capri and Caleb both had some really nice comments left that can never be recovered. So, long story short...there are many good reasons...and unfortunately many bad. Too bad people have nothing better to do than screw around with matters that don't concern them.

I applaud Oli for even trying anymore.

I'm thinking why would anyone change a pedigree in a malicious way? I don't own a dog that I add titles to either, but I'd never think about going into a pedigree of someone else's dog as was done with Capri and Caleb. What is wrong with people who do things like that - rhetorical, no answer expected. Duh......

And believe it or not it goes on every day here. From those who just get kicks out of defacing pedigrees to those that get mad at someone and either deface a pedigree or delete it outright. The big culpert right now is someone from India who has taken it upon themselves to remove titles and VA status off of dogs all because they got caught with multiple names.

Can someone verify if they are now able to edit pedigrees they created? Please use the beta site.

If I knew how to use the Beta thing, I'd try that What Smile.
