I've been as clear as I can, if you want to answer it fine if not fine. As far as I remember there was only one thread about whether or not a dog would respond if a bad guy tried to enter the vehicle. And to clarify Get Real is both a K-9 officer and a certified trainer?

Oh forget it Ding Dong, I tried to be nice to you yet again. Your still throwing attitude and wanting to be difficult. If you want the answer to your question, I said re ask it. We don't have time to go look it up. Would a dog respond if a bad guy tried to enter a vehicle? I have untrained dogs that will do that and we train for that specific senario in PSA. If thats not specific enough, like I said ask again. I said he was an officer not a K-9 officer for one, there you go adding to peoples stories and no he isn't certified but has 15 years of training dogs behind him. He can still train any dog, cert or no cert. He is also one of the best helpers around these parts but I guess without a cert, he is useless in your eyes. Whatever! If you would like to jump on that wagon, I'm sure he will make the video offer again. Your 5 month old pup and mine which has been trained and worked by him.

4pack, I would rather be cordial with you, but I asked specific questions because I was interested in specific answers. You seem to answer questions that I'm not asking. The reason I wanted to know whether or not he was a K-9 officer or a K-9 handler was because I was wondering where he was coming from with his statistics which seemed high, even for a large city. It's not a point of contention, but a point of interest. This had nothing to do with PSA. I had understood it to be about actual roadside police stops. Not trying to stir it up, but look at the sequence of questions and answers and it appears that you said he was both. Now that I go back I see I didn't say"K-9 cop", but I thought it would have been understood.

Statistics he was speaking of were dogs he trains with, not works with. His department has no K-9 unit or I am sure he would be all over that. You'll have to get from him who and what he trained for because I know it's allot of different trainers, dogs and sports. What I can tell you is that many of his friends are K-9 officers and trainers. What I know of is...he has been active in training dogs for Police work, PSA, French Ring, and another sport that isn't even active anymore.(I forget the name) Good helpers are hard to find here, just as any other area. We have a pretty active Schutzhund community but not allot of people can read and work with harder dogs. This is where he excels and prefers to be, in my opinion anyway. I have personaly been there when he has been asked to take special training projects on, for several different clubs, people and breeds of dog. Me being a somewhat newbie didn't want to give him the benefit of the doubt, just because he was my boyfiend. Trust me he will tell ya, I questioned him on EVERYTHING. Now that I have been to other clubs, seminars, and witnessed more than a few different trainer work dogs, I can see he knows his $hit. I'm famouse for doing things my way, or no way and he is great at fixing my mistakes and of course saying "I told you so". God help me, he doesn't read this and rub my nose in it farther. LOL

Alright, I found the thread. If you read the following, especially the fourth paragraph it appears (to me) he is saying that law enforcement trains for a scenario where a bad guy attacks an officer and puts him on his back. Since the scenario was 'what would your dog do, I'm thinking their is a police K-9 involved. Now I'm wondering why that was even put into the thread. Any way that was why I was asking if he was a K-9 officer. When I had talked to the K-9 officers in my club, about this, they just shook their heads. Apparently I just didn't understand what your boy friend was attempting to convey. Thread from 1/7/07 "Ok guys thanks for the interest in this thread. I think it is fun to play the "what if" game. "What if" can make us prepare for the future. Much of law enforcement training is based on "what if" and "why did that happen". Olskool very honestly and respectfully stated an opinion that is most often the reality. If you have an untrained or sport trained dog the chances of him/her defending you with the conviction to fully engage and fight a human are very slim. I could not offer an opinion on anyone's dog without actually working them. In no way is my intention to put down or discredit someone's dog. Most dog's will attempt to offer some sort of protection from barking to even biting but to full on fight a human is against all but the most dominant dogs nature. I chose this scenario because it is very similar to one we train in law enforcement. It is a basic traffic stop scenario where the officer directs the "bad guy" to exit the car and the officer is attacked and ends up on their back with the "bad guy" on top of them. I have participated and/or observed this scenario over 100 times with the same results 85-90% of the time. I ask that you keep an open mind when I give you the answer based on my training and experience. I have done this on another board and was crucified (SP?)"
