@vk4gsd - What is the 'test' for? Is it to see if the dog will engage on someone passive without provocation? Or did you send the dog in via command and if so, if there were a secondary person, a bi-stadner what would the dog have done? Is this for a civil sport like PSA?

Okay, so Why and to what end? Dont take offense, I am asking only to better educate my self and to learn about training that is outside of my exposure.

I believe it gives insight into a dog's temperament. seems a lot of dogs will not engage and presents a real problem to them, others will just drop off. possibly an artefact of this trend of relentless whip stimulation imo.

of course all things can be trained and variables like equipment triggers need to be considered, in the context of the clip it was not pre-trained and equipment focus can not be ruled out, however I have put up other clips of the dog stepping over equipment to get to decoy, just parts of a jigsaw, nothing much in isolation should be taken as final.

tried to answer best I could.

Try the decoy standing with know equipment when the dog reacts leave him barking. You hold the dog. Let decoy walk away leave dog still barking no bite just aggression. You teach the dog he does not always have to bite unless decoy persist. Once he is alert and barking and decoy is out of sight no more threat reward dog with Kong. I would normally have a second decoy somewhere else. Once he reacts to no equipment he gets same situation with equipment and gets the bite. Hope this helps

yogi, that is a completely different thing to what I was trying to achieve in THIS test, also it is training.

if someone wants to test A, training B and x,y,z will not test A.
