I think there are some very good US bred GSL's too. The GSDCA Sieger is coming up soon. That might be a good place to spend some time looking at potential stud dog?

good reads Blitzen and shatterhand.....

Shatterhand I was JK... like I wrote earlier too..
I agree with you on the fact that there is more quality outside the VA group in terms of temperament etc... but you wrote "only Americans breed to VA dogs because they can sell the puppies for more money and faster.knowledge and understanding of bloodlines among american breeders and exhibitors is insufficient." which I dont agree with... There are all sorts of people everywhere. There is a lot of knowledge amoungst american breeders.

As soon as you post this demand in the classified section, you´ll get a lot of offers - just do your homework accordingly, and ask for DNA, too.

To Khalid, you are right, even over here a lot of breeders almost only use VA dogs -
1. The pups are easier to sell
2. The next VA male will be out of a VA male ....

Some of Louis Donald's comments on this year's show. He was there as a photographer, and is also a well-known judge and respected judge:

I have had many requests for photos of dogs standing in a show pose, but this year the opportunity for the 'Press' to get photos of class winning dogs in a show stance other than in the LSH and Dirk Gabriele's ring was incredibly difficult.

In past years the majority of photos of class winners was achieved when the class winners were presented facing the spectators either on the race track or in the presentation /dias area and this year no class winners were stood for the spectators, only presented on the move and then quickly moved to sitting on the dias.

The whole mood and effort to accommodate 'Press' this year was at a low ebb, if not openly hostile. A shame especially when the Sieger Show and the breed is in a spiralling decline in Germany and needs all the support it can get from enthusiasts and the general public.

The mood at this year's Sieger Show was somber, tense and had an air of ill omen about it. The endemic years of greed, corruption, and putting self interest ahead of the German Shepherd Dog has taken its toll and impacted heavily on its future well being - the youth that normally fill the vacuum as previous enthusiasts pass on,and if that is a bit fuzzy then I mean as we pass away, have little interest - they looked and did not like what they saw an seek interest elsewhere.

I commend Dr Heinrich Messler for his forthright candid and idealistic attempt to put things right but the powerful current of self interest based on opportunistic greed, the fear of retribution by many to express an open constructively intended opinion unless it is in praise and the loss of focus, if not belief, that the German Shepherd Dog should be a sound, healthy, working dog and not an exaggerated pansy show specimen which is too often favoured in its class by who is on the end of the lead, runs very very deep.
