Mithuna

by Mithuna on 14 September 2015 - 12:09

The general opinion seems that the GSD's development has been largely market driven....and many of the all round natural instincts of the dog has been selectively bred out. I still remember to this day that awe inspiring GSD ( the Marko grandson ) that led me to fall in love with the breed. I could not believe that a dog could do all that on his own. I still recall him constantly side swiping me with his body keeping me away from his owner ( looking back now its funny, then it was kind of scary ) Since then I have never seen another natural like him. I wish the breeders of today can go back to their drawing board and restore this amazing breed to its NOBILITY.

SS she could have had a good pedigree too

Mithuna says; 'I wish the breeders of today can go back to their drawing board and restore this amazing breed to its NOBILITY.'

The breeders who don't breed gsd with consideration to instincts, character and nerves don't want them....breeders do exist who are breeding for the whole dog. And there are lots of gsd breeders who want the whole dog, not just selected bits and pieces with exclusion to qualities which constitute the breed.

That ^^^^^ describes a dog soliciting attention, not guarding. Any dog I have or have had that is truely'keeping an eye' on someone, is not moving around, they are watching. If the person moves, the dog will intervene by jumping up in the person's face without barking as my old dog would do...or he would block them if in the house and a guest stood up and he would take hold of their wrist firmly stopping them from moving .....I would give him a recall and put him in a down by me and he'd chill out. Again, a display of herding behavior.

Sunsilver

Mithuna, that's possible, but she did not look to be well-bred. Her muzzle was too long, she had really tall ears, a reverse mask, and her bum was as high as her head. She lacked bone, had weak pasterns, and her tail would go above her topline when she was really excited. A former German police officer said she reminded him of the police dogs he'd trained during the post war years. People who were used to the American showline dogs bluntly told me she couldn't be purebred....Roll eyes  I think she was, just not bred to THEIR standards!

'....and her tail would go above her topline when she was really excited.'

Too many gsd nowadays can't raise their tail off their butt....I love to see my puppies with tail up over their back as they explore.

tough civil, defense ,sharp GSD with strong charactar do they exist ?, ,Yes

But can everyone handle this dogs without problems ? No

Yesterday a breeder called me he got trouble  with one of his dogs this happened
for the third time  between several months with one of his offspring who gonna  serious fight with the owner ( not the breeder), the issue most
of this people don,t know or how to handle and train ( fair) with this stronger  dogs.have seen this many times

Magic words today are social,  high prey drives and good looking.

Joan
Its difficult to conceive that that dog was soliciting my attention. He was aloof from me the whole time and had a grave face . What he did was that if I came to close to James ( my friend ) as we spoke the dog with bounce me with his body while continuously circling his owner. As the distance got bigger he would stop. But he was completely Noble and aloof from me..somewhat like an aristocratic demeanor. He was a son of Kai Vom Silberbrand ( Marko's son ) and was bred in England by Malcolm Griffiths.

black malinois, dogs who attack owner have nothing to do with good balanced strong dogs, in my opinion,
sometimes that is handlermistake, but some lines are known to produce these dogs who do that, bad handler or not,

by joanro on 14 September 2015 - 15:09

Mithuna, a dog can't rub his body back and forth against you and be alloof at the same time..that is a contradiction. What does a 'grave face' look like? That would be completely subjective.
