Good post Duke I agree with you most your points

But nerves problem are in a lot of breeds also GSD and , bouvier, rottweiler, doberman ,boxer etc

It can helpes if you know the bloodlines and also it depends invididual dog quality

Example in KNPV we can,t use dogs with weaker nerves or courage because this properties are very
important for street work as we know in Holland ,Belgium France all / most police K9, are   malinois/dutchies
I don,t wanna say there are not bad malis. ( not  make any contest GSD vs mali)

An other point is the high prey drive dogs are more easier to train I have seen and decoyed many breeds
a bouvier example cost most more time and knowledge /patient from the handler to certify than a mali,
The quality from  breeds and  dogs it is more easy to find this days a good GSD / Maili/dutchie than a good
Rottweiler,bouvier,dobermann ( breeding quality)
The KNPV program is global never changed for 100 years and handlers are very oldfashion in their handling. . Yes its true IPO, KNPV ringsport PSA all of them are prey drive sport programs.so the high
prey drive dogs will  here  dominant,

Best impression is testing  the dogs outside the sport programs NO routine .

if you compare a poor nerve prey dog to a solid nerve defence dog then sure the prey dog will fall apart - now compare a weak nerve defence dog and you get the same thing except the defence dog will just fall apart quicker.

problem is dogs quick to defence with low prey more than likely have got poor nerves and low courage that's why they are quick to defence.

a strong good nerve prey dog can do everything a defence dog can do and so much more, the prey gives you something to train with.

how sad for a dog if the only drive it can work in is defence, what type of person would work a dog that way?

I work many strong defence driven dogs and have a good client base who wants them, only so much harder to find becayse todays breeding is prey based mainly,a good preydog WITHOUT defence/suspicion and agression is worth very little to me, but suitable for sport and pet

Its very difficult to find good decoys who can and  know how to work in defense.

99 percent is work(breeding) over prey today , more easy to train

I will take my prey monster with drive, courage and enough defence and let the folks with concerned for the boogie man defensive dogs sit and watch on the side-line while my boy finds, runs down and smashes the decoy into the ground every time without fail the rougher the better, nothing but a hoot.

I see enough newbs buy into this real dog, alpha dog Czech mumbo-jumbo that just don't get to play cos their dog just does nothing unless it thinks the decoy is gonna eat it then the explode in survival mode.

Duke, you are right on the money. There are definitely some people who have trained 100 dogs in both defense and or prey or the combination of and don't have to bet but know exactly what will happen. And it depends on the primary makeup of the dog in either prey or defense. It depends largely on if the dog has naturally strong nerve and fight drive. If they have both, then they can be very effective if either defense or prey is primary drive and the other drive lessor.

Normal we test  young dogs like this 7 months old scenario ,dog looks a litle bit stressed an confused but its a good example Duke
but I wanna see real life training with this dog I don,t  know what the decoy has done before with this dog for better
opinion

For me its not real quality dog what I can see from a videoThumbs Up

its very simple black malinois, this is TRAINED prey dog ,who titled KNPV met lof , who is put in UNTRAINED situation and breaks down, this shows why dog who faced white house fence jumper run,
I said many times, trained behaviour is risico in real life untrained situations,
