Aakay and Duke you hit the jackpot, and I concur with your understanding. That Cane Corso was unmistakbly defense driven from the start, but he never backed down from the decoy. The more pressure the decoy came with the dog fought like a spartan, you could see/ sense a kind of primeval rage; There was no visible indication that the dog was afraid of the decoy or that he wanted the fight to end ASAP; it was like this dog  could very very  seriously hurt someone in real life.

At least there are some who fully understand that the  flashy prey chasing  sport dog is not all there is to it.

Can you show me a "flashing prey chasing sport dog", please?

Also, are you aware of what it takes for a dog to remain flashy and driven?

Most normal dogs can be made to look hard and tough, when worked in defense... The problem arises when control is added AND the dog is expected to work with low stimulous... that's when things become different.

hntrjmpr434 - if you are talking about the CO2 vid, the dog engages, stays in the fight whilst being blasted with CO2..
(with no handler present)

Here is the link again - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfW62lxUdVk

I never used the word defense to describe any drive my dog was in or not in.

I certainly don't have a dog which is scared to fight the man - I can assure you that.

The point I was making however was - so long as the dog engages and protects your butt time and again, should supersede ALL theoretical analysis you have re which drive and what state of mind you deem the dog to be in.

As stated before - whether the dog is in prey or defense when it bites your nuts will make no difference to the pain you feel.

I have a sneaking feeling however you would still be theorizing the gaping wound from your hospital bed lol.

Well after seeing the videos and taking into consideration that I have no nuts, no I don't think I would have anything to theorize about in the hospital bed I wouldn't end up in.

by Gee on 09 September 2015 - 15:09

I was of course talking metaphorically and do not wish for you to be in a hospital bed.

Carry on theorizing girl.

To concur with Gee

hntr   If you ( or anyone of your ilk ) come to Brooklyn  validate your theory with that Cane Corso, bet on it..you will be accepting your null hypothesis from a hospital bed.

And no lol..Im dead azz.

Get yourself an alligator, chop off it's tail and call it a GSD .. or perhaps a Cane Corso?? Biting is the least important thing that a dog does. Otherwise get yourself an alligator as they are great in protection.

Never said the dog wouldn't bite, Mithuna. He's just scared doing so. Defense is a stress response, no matter the breed.
