Why? Is WDA finished? In my humble opinion USCA would be accepting all those horses into their club to out vote themselves, so they would be just crazy to do so.

But politics make strange bedfellows.

Probably not that many horses left in the WDA barn.

WDA was always a much smaller organization than USCA despite it's somewhat Enron-ish accounting. I suspect most people have already migrated to GSDCA or USCA on their own.

Those that are left with WDA-only memberships may not be able to move due to personal preference or other reasons. It's not all hard to get a membership in either organization. The ability to sign a check is the primary requirement. I do think both organizations retain the right to exclude applicants for cause -- prior expellation, animal abuse convictions, or being a notorious puppy mill-er (aka the Hunt's).

For those remaining WDA members looking for a new home ...

For those that can't stand either ...

What pray tell is Dan Yee's purpose in wanting his members to join USCA as that club does not allow members to belong to two national clubs.

Will they have their national election? Is he still pres? With all the traveling around and court events does his WDA still have any money in their accounts?

Just wondering.

The rumor is that the WDA is done regardless of the pending court case. From what is being said, it appears that the SV cutting them off from their support was the final breaking point. Apparently, Dan and board have decided to concede and disband the WDA within the next few months. I dont know if they have something in the WDA bi-laws that prevents it or if there needs to be some formal act by the WDA membership or even how this disbanding will occur. But i think everyone can agree that the writing is on the wall with the WUSV qualifier this year, the (WU)SV announcement a few months back and now the cancelling of the WDA Sierger Show that its not looking like the WDA will be here next year.

I think its a sad situation and we have lost an option of an organization to compete in. I hold high hopes that the GSDCA is able to grow its working/sport presence. They have support of the AKC, SV and even UScA, to what degree only time and actions will tell. The GSDCA is poised to make something great happen and i really hope they follow the principal of the GSD first, Sport 2nd and membership (Club Level) 3rd. I know there are GOOD people who are enthusiastic, experienced and knowledgeable who are ready to get in and be a part of GSDCA's success in their new adventure. I have also heard alot of the existing GSDCA show clubs are not happy about the attention and resources being re-directed to SchH/IPO but i hope that is just their reaction to "change"

FWIW you can't join DVG at large. I say that as someone that tried years back when I defected from WDA. You have to be a member of a member club. I joined USCA instead, finished my dogs title and did the breed survey through them.

"It's not all hard to get a membership in either organization."

The problem lies with those who a) instigated, were party to or otherwise supported the WDA's lawsuit agaist the GSDCA, and b) trash talked the UScA.  They will have a difficult time finding a home methinks.

These people are not without influence, those within USCA are very familiar with them and may not allow them in or have any control at the time being, but the majority of GSDCA members are pretty much apathetic to what happens to the "German" dog enthusiasts. Depending on how the election in the GSDCA goes, not only will those people have a home, they might have their power handed right back to them or to their surrogates. The GSDCA/SV programs are currently being run as fairly and as openly as they possibly can but that can easily change. I would not count these people out in either organization.

Ahhh crap Markobytes, you just couldnt leave well enough alone huh?!?!? You had to bring up a point of reality and that is an absolute possibility that i had not considered

He was very nasty to his office mgr and basically threw her out and never said thank you to her. Would not think she would like him now. His best woman partner on almost everything prevented me from renewing.

Someone told me thought he'd run out of club money by this time last year, so their estimate was a year late, but better now than later and just get it over with and done. Let people get on with their lives.

If GSDCA does ever set up a new WDA, lets hope it is better set up to try to prevent things like this happening again! Let's hope that these people are never allowed to be in positions of power in any new WDA group.

See before one criticizes me, I was right next to him when he stated his plans for the future more than once and thank goodness his plans seem to have come to an end. Like the phoenix, he could try to resurrect himself. So be aware always and do not trust!

I am not a little person, I am a total nobody. But you have won!!!! So far!!!!

I think there will be a new way of thinking about German dogs in the GSDCA. Currently there are a number of influential members who either own both or breed ASL x GSL litters or who just appreciate the dogs for what they are. Some are training their dogs in IPO and breeding toward that goal.  We see many many GSL x GWL GSD's scoring very high in OB, rally, agility, etc. When I attended the National a few years ago the OB  ring was dominated by German dogs and German x American crosses.  Their owners are getting out, training those dogs and showing them for OB titles.

I'm guessing more GSDCA members attend the BSZS annually than do US GSL breeders. Some GSDCA members are narrow minded and won't see the positives of the German dogs. They will not want to see a dog a heavier head and loose flews,  more sustance or a side gait that is not controlled with shoulder joints that don't fully open.  The German toplines will also discourgage many ASL people from recognizing the positives in those dogs. The good thing is that most of the GSL's I see bred in the US don't have banana backs.

Some are still leery of the temperaments of IPO dogs. ASL dogs are generally taught from birth that biting anything is a big no, no. A lot needs to change in the GSDCA and IMO it will  albeit slowly. If you don't belong to that club you will have no voice in the future of the breed in the US. A majority vote of the members is the only way any revisions can be made to the AKC breed standard and that effects everyone who breeds AKC registered litters.
