I understand that joining DVG would have had some obstacles, but why was disbanding their only choice?  Why not become members of both RSV2000 (VDH) and IRO (FCI), then join the AWDF and submit titles to the AKC under the Working Dog title recognition program?  Sure they loose the ability submit hips/elbows and DNA to the SV, but how many people today were really doing that through the WDA and not USCA or the GSDCA?  Plus, the IRO, has a joint judging agreement with the SV, meaning IRO trials can request judges that are both SV and IRO certified.  In fact, if the WDA had forced thier judges to get dual IRO certified it would have made thier WUSV judging certifcations still valid without the need to be part of USCA, GSDCA or WDA.

Do the guys running these organizations not know the rules and options available to them under the FCI and VDH umbrellas?

Momo, I guess these members are simply not interested in IRO, they want to do IPO.
You are wrong about the WUSV judging certifications - IRO judges are special judges, not necessarily IPO judges, and a IRO license has nothing to do with a WUSV license - it´s not that easy.
RSV2000 is member of VDH and FCI, it´s no problem to found a club in the US, but it´s not possible yet for a whole organization to become part of RSV.
Kind regards

@susie, let me explain my thought process. The IRO answered this question for me, but perhaps there was a translation error on their end. SV/WUSV certified judges are allowed to become dual  SV/IRO certified judges and they do not need to be members of BOTH the IRO and SV affiliates, within the country of residence of the judge. For an IRO title to be recognized by the SV, the judge must have been certified by the SV/WUSV first. I was told that IRO judges whom can issue SV/WUSV recognized titles, are also certified SV/WUSV judges, but that not all IRO judges are certified SV/WUSV judges and titles issued by them would not be recognized by the SV/WUSV.

If the WDA had become members of both RSV2000 and IRO, they would have access to both SV/WUSV judges, IRO judges and RSV2000 judges. Sure, they could not hold an SV certified IPO trial, but they could offer trials for the BH, OB, RH, FH and AD as an IRO member. Those titles would have to be recognized by all SV/WUSV members (in the case of the USA that would mean both the GSDCA and USCA).

However, that's where the RSV2000 membership comes in, where WDA members would need to train to the RSV2000 standard for their IPO titles and not the SV/WUSV standard.  RSV2000 would not be the main membership and only the WDA headquarters office would be the member club until the rules change, however, the IRO membership would be the main national membership and would cover the exitsing WDA members, all over the country and thier newly issued IRO scorebooks would have to be accepted by the GSDCA and USCA.

Can someone please explain to the laymen here what all these different orgs are and what do they do, its mind boggling.

@vk4gsd, few people in this community understand how these organizations overlap and it gets worse with every passing year as the knowledge leaves the various organizations, never to return again.

You know whats funny? Guess which USA based working dog organization has the MOST knowledge about FCI rules and how they apply to the United States?

HANDS DOWN, the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA).  Yes, these guys really investigated how to work with FCI over the last DECADE and REALLY know thier stuff. The GSDCA and AWDF need to REALLY start paying the NAVHDA to consult them on how to proceed next because they don't seem to know much.

I thought my question was valid enough to start its own thread, thanks for comment tho.

I'm still puzzling over the part of the statement that says the WDA has been in existence for 33 years...

Momo,

The WDA problem is not an affiliation problem it's an Organization problem. They had judges, they had venue, all was in place for the NASS. Not enough people wanted to be a part of corrupt show put on by a corrupt organization. There's the problem. Not enough participation to make it work. The WDA could be full members of every dog organization on the planet and it still wouldn't work. People grew tired of the BS and left. That simple.
