I guess that answers my question.

"...because the membership is exclusionary, corrupt, and so arrogant they think they should tell everyone else what they want from a GSD."
"However the arrogance and exclusionary nature of the biting sport clubs and organizations combined with institutionalized cheating have driven the nails in their coffin in combination with the general citizen population's distrust of biting dog sports."

I´d really like to know what happened to you in case of clubs, organizations, and science... must have been traumatic for you.

"The SV is going to start promoting Agility ...
Agility was started in the nineteeth, we do have a "National Legue" for a lot of years, and we do have the International Agility Championship ( held together with the BSP at the same location every year ).

@susie, there may be some exaggeration in this statement, but things are playing out this way, for the most part, with the 35 and under crowd in the USA.

Momo, I never played the "points, ratings, money game", although I have been a member of several very successful dog clubs for almost my whole life. I trained, titled, breed surveyed, went on shows, and I had a lot of fun. I always trained my dogs "my way", I made a lot of friends, almost all of them love their dogs, no matter the results. There are different characters in every club, no matter which club. In case you don´t like the people at all, go somewhere else, but don´t condemn the whole system.

Well said Susie!

I,m working with a 13 year old boy teaching him how to lay tracks and handle the dogs so he can start working a dog in the spring. It,s not like throwing on a uniform and running down a field. It,s hard work and takes a lot of time and 1 on 1 to teach. Unlike a video game.

Bob, Susie, Momo et al there are not many real "dog people" left anymore. People like you guys who don't expect instant gratification, who spend time leaning about dogs in general, who mentor newbies.  Now most would rather take the path of least resistance. Breed a litter and then ask embarrsassing basic questions like - where is my dog's pasterns and why it is important to prove that my dog is actually breed worthy before he/she has puppies. Both parents are "papered" and their grandparents were police dogs/guard dogs/vicious/weighed 100 lbs.

It's the same issue in all breeds, not only GSD's. In the AKC GSD world when I go to shows it's like visiting the old folks home. We have some handlers who are young, the have to be fit to handle a GSD. But I don't see most of them really caring about the breed. We have 2 SV judges, Goldfarb and Gleason, both of whom are over 75. As far as I know there are no younger GSD people interesting in being licensed. Too hard....they don't want to go to Germany....... they are afraid they won't pass the SV's test? I dunno.

The world of purebred dogs is not going to get any better any time soon.

Blitzen:

"People like you guys who don't expect instant gratification"

But i do get instant gratification, each time i look at my dogs and into there eyes i see it, What we do takes alot of time and commitment it,s not easy and it should,nt be !. My opinion this type of dog work isn,t for the general public it,s not just something that should be done on a spur of the moment or after watching a bunch of Y tube video,s. Like any thing else with the ability comes responsibility too many people think your just teaching your dog to bite, any dog can and will bite what we teach(or should be) teaching is when it,s appropriate to. Some call it "biting sports"  to me that is a bad label because it leads people to believe thats all it is about. When it should be all about control.

I just had this intense discussion last nite with my helper. I say it should be and is supposed to be a test, he says it stopped being a test 20 years ago, He isn,t wrong but neither am I. Will i breed a dog that isn,t titled Yes and I have but i owned that dog since it was a puppy and have tested it and health tested it and was comfortable in doing it. I,m going to Tile my Cruise the end of October for his 1 and 1 week latter his 2 and that same weekend Confr and Kore under a German Judge already has his Bh and AD . Would I breed him if he weren't titled yes and I did and that litter is all working and showing great abilities.

Guys its not just most dog sports that are losing members, it is a generational shift that spans nearly every aspect of clubs and community.

Most volunteer orgs are full of agiing people, they are not being replaced by enough young people.

All of this is well explained if you read up on gen Y and the millenials.
