TY Susie.
So he is Finnish ?
And I take it that, from your first WD Eu link, the FCI itself determined that
this was a "World" championship event ...

I fully expect that there is some reason attached to our UK Kennel Club why
we Brits do not get to hear about these things happening (unless we can &
do access Working Dog / are actively involved in trialling, here & abroad) -
but that does not explain the lack of info about such matters that the FCI could
make available to all comers to its own site, yet has not. (Unless that site has
suddenly become much more informative in the last few months). It also
does not tell us when & how the FCI decided it was more than a European
network .

Finally went & had a look @ the FCI site - and yes it has been updated
- for which read totally revised - since I last looked in on it (which I think
was some time last year). I look forward to exploring it more thoroughly.
Am not however holding my breath as to whether I will find any history
detailed as to constitutional matters, when & how expansion took place,
etc.

Actually the FCI world Championships are a team event and one dog does not win it .. the highest scoring dog is recognized but I believe the term Champion is reserved for the winning team. Actually it matters very little which dog scores highest as the FCI World IPO is a team event like the WUSV IPO World Championships which are in reality the WUSV GSD World Championships. None of these dogs be they GSD or another breed can lay claim to World Champion of IPO. I guess it depends which world you are talking about or perhaps which universe as in the case of Miss Universe. About the only bright spot for the GSD in the IPO "world" is FCI IPO FH tracking where the GSD's still reign supreme most of the time. The Labs and some other breeds are starting to show up in this more real type of tracking and that also may not last for the GSD.  footnote .. the Slovakian team won as best I can figure from the web site and the top dog on the Slovakian Team was a GSD so the World Champion would be the Champion dog on the Champion team .. Slovakia.  The web site for the 2015 FCI World IPO in Swizerland is a bit of a bear to negotiate.

I have some high drive police and competitive IPO type GSD dogs and there are fewer than .01% of the US population that can handle these dogs and live with them which probably explains why much, much less than .01% of the US population has one. No matter how much the SV and other IPO based GSD organizations promote IPO as a selection for breed worthiness the public both in Germany, the USA, and worldwide will reject it

like so? https://vimeo.com/101954617

Just to put my two cents in even though it's OT, Susie said "Goldens are the better blind dogs", when actually Labradors are much more superior guide dogs. Sorry Susie, I had to lol.

Continuing to be OT, the UK Guide Dog Association uses Labradors
and Golden Retrievers about equally. They also supply a lot of crosses
between the two ( as well as a smattering of other breeds and cross-breeds,
even some GSDs still).
So, as with "World Champions" I suppose mostly people would vote for
their own dog / breed as "best" - whichever it happens to be ? ;-)

I hope I don't banned for this but everyone who buys whatever breed is absolutely sure it is the best breed. GSD people do NOT have a claim or monopoly on the best breed.
