So my second driver fell through. If Jen were to get the dog/me transport her, I think the most feasible option is for me to fly out and drive back. The plane ticket would be $530 if I left Thurday OR $406 if I left Friday..... which would be fine. But renting a car would be over $700 Omg Smile so idk. What would be best for the dog? I can't fund that right now with my trip in less than two weeks.

Also, the sooner the better.... otherwise we risk puppies in the backseat. LOL And I can promise Jen would get the most panicked phone call of her life.

I honestly think if no one in Cali steps up with a firm commitment, just shipping her here ASAP is the safest bet to ensure a couple days to acclimate before labor.

Hoping Jyl has awesome news tonight when she posts back.

If you set up a fund page, share it here so everyone can donate, and we could also share it on Facebook to help raise the money.

If it were summer time, I'd make the drive by myself anyway.... but it's winter and a lot of mountain driving between here and there. :( If she was just a bit closer... Reno, Salt Lake, anything...

Reliya, I hate to set up a page for funding when I don't know if someone local will be able to handle it...I could use my Paypal, which is much easier to transfer funds quickly to and from (we don't want to end up where we have the funds but no one can access them fast enough).

Would people be comfortable using my PayPal so that if this worked, I could send it to the seller? And, if it doesn't, I can easily refund everyone? I think we should wait for Jyl to post back. While I am able to take this girl if need be, I agree keeping her closer since she's so close to whelping would be preferable.

GOOD NEWS!!!!

Jenni,
In your post you said you have a breeder friend in Bakersfield that is willing to take the dog and whelp the litter?!

I called a friend of mine that does rescue and also is a member of the IPO club I train at. Well she said she would drive the female down to Bakersfield!!😁👍....She does not want her phone number or email posted on her but is more than willing to speak to you personally on the phone or email. So if you want to email or call me tomorrow and we can make arrangements for this poor female.

All we need to do is have people chip in to pay the $1200 purchase price for this old girl.

My email is
Dukenheim(at)yahoo.com

I had a woman email me and offer. I have no reason to suspect she is anything but the kind-hearted person she appears to be, but I need to be 100% honest with all potential donors that I don't know her AT ALL. I have never heard of her. She said she has a couple friends who are older women who would take 1-2 pups each as companions, assuming this old girl will likely only have 3-4.

How do people feel about that? I can't think of much of a motive anyone would have for wanting this girl besides pure kindness and sympathy, but...it's not my money and I don't want anyone donating based on a trust for someone who's been very public for a number of years.

Couldn't someone(s) make a donation, in the amount of the purchase price, to the rescue agency, then the agency could use this to get the girl? That way, donations could be made to a registered charity (assuming the rescue agency is registered) for a tax deduction, and the girl gets adopted out to a forever home that will take care of her and place the pups.

I hope it all works out for this old gal, and that her delivery goes well with healthy pups.

You think he's going to turn her over to a rescue? And if he would, can a rescue do that? I don't know the rules for non-profits.
