Uh what happened to the discussion on roachy toplines and what causes them? A HGH title is far more challenging than an AKC herding title.

Baby Eagle, since we are neighbors, I'd love to come and visit your estate one day. Would I be welcome? Or maybe I'll just drive by and take a look. From your descriptions, it must be very, very impressive.

Blitzen, it's far from an estate. An estate to me is refined and glamorous looking. You sound like you don't need an invite, so see ya soon. Bring your boots.

Need directions from the Turnpike. Do you train all your titled dogs there too? How about the ones  you import and train for your many customers? Can I see any of them? Maybe photos? I might want to buy one from you. Did  you get you GSD back from being titled or don't you have it anymore? BTW, how is your mother doing?  I've forgotten now, is she an MD or a vet? Can't wait to meet you !!!

Blitzen, your sounding more like my stalkers naw. Your sure your not in cahoots with them ? Anyhow .. see ya soon.

by Blitzen on 25 July 2008 - 23:07

No, I am not one of your stalkers. Why do you think you have "stalkers", Melissa? Could it possibly be due to some stories you have told that were proven to be untrue? Probably not. Just tell the truth.

 4 Pack,

It's not because she was a show lines that she had problems..WL have problems too. This dog looks like she have either back or neck problem..and yes it looks like she a little roach but I don't think that it was the source of her problem. And then maybe she just stand like this because of pain.

A too square dog can lead to problem also..no angulation of hind leg can cause rupture in the anterior cruciate ligaments..too straight back can also cause hernia and disk problem..

You can hide things on a stack sometimes..but on a gait..you can't hide anything.  That's how you asses what you think you have seen in a dog.  When they are gaiting around..the handler can't do much to hide major faults (up and down, and side gait and loose lead). You also need  good GSD judge (pretty rare those days in AKC) who knows the correct structure and what to look for (on the dog not the handler!)

In germany we say Karfenrücken / Carpback, that does fit the existing problem.

But this never ending and dicretiting discussion was made cause someone was pissed off because the german SV did not allow him to use Elektroshock equipment to manipulate his dogs!

People PLEASE, if you find out what is correct or not, go to shows, read books and THINK, its a lot of work and a lot of learning to understand a animals movement and anatomie!

I suggest, the people who critic the standart shall send a picture of a dog the stucked by themself!

You know what I mean? Only some who know about anatomie angles and balance can produce a good picture.

Breeds whit this back exist, but that not trotter, they are sprinters, they get the groundcovering out of angle AND back, complete different from a GSD.

Thing is in the dog above the humping is towards the rear of the dog and in the GSD;d it's up front ove rthe shoulders or a slight one over the whole back like my dog Xabina. I have never witnessed a GSD shaped like the sprinter above. Borzoi, Afgan and greyhounds are built like that and it's not the issue being discussed at all. The original post is comparing old style flat back dogs to the more recent siegers and siegrens.
