Blitzen if you a computer idiot(as I am) and you use a friends computer and dont sign on as a guest, it can be quite confusing to yourself as well as anyone else. Sorry for the confusion. My computer went down and trex and I are friends so i asked to use his. For the record, I'm an ex serviceman myself.

Julie my posts, when I remember to do so are addressed to a response directly or spoken in general. I made one critical post and it wasnt directed towards anyones "working dog". I know the importance of such dogs getting a rating of SG or better. Wouldnt it be great for one to get a VA! However, few of us are completely happy with the outcome of the selections. We all want to be winners and brag. Peter the judge is not one to give a damn about what people think of his selections as one person already pointed out. He seems to enjoy going against the grain. I didnt show anything under him, though in the one show I saw him judge he seemed to be fair in his selections. I understand from the "grapevine" he also alienated more than one german breeder/handler at the show, by putting back some dogs that had done well at other shows in germany. There have been some wonderful comments made on this subject matter regarding the importance of the handlers skills handling the dog as being comparable to that of a jockey on a horse in a big race. This is true and thats why those that win the most often make the big bucks.

Blitzen, You are correct. Those were the winners of the classes at the sieger show. They are listed by the kennel that bred the dog. I don't believe any of the first place dogs were owned by the same person. The two Wilhendorf dogs were not owned by the same person.

To blitzen who wrote,"To me an "average Joe" is defined by an attitude, not a bank account. If that's not clear to you, I really don't know how else to put it." What kind of attitude is that? If you want to win with a good dog, you must start with one. All of us bought our first dog from someone. There is nothing dishonorable in purchasing a dog from another breeder for as many times as you wish. Not everyone desires to be a "breeder". It takes money to buy a dog. Everyone thats on this List by now should know that there are basically two types of dogs described, "working" and "showline". I dont know why since a Sch3 title on either dog has the same meaning. If you want to compete against "showline dogs" with a sable working dog, your are only hampering your chances at winning. Its would be just as foolish to stand 10 feet away from a man pointing a 12 gauge shotgun at you filled with #4 shot and threaten him with a pen knife. Your gonna lose. Change your attitude, if you want to win, you must buy the kind of dog that is winning. Your not going to change their way of thinking or judging, so it is you that must change or remain miserable.

Thanks, Dog 1.

Glad to see your computer is back on line, paranshep. You and I are on 2 differecnt wave lengths, so let's just agree to disagree and let it drop.

I don't know why the comparison keeps being made about working dogs vs. show dogs. I am referring to a showline male that was dismissed as a 'working dog'. Also I am not talking about 'winning' if you are calling V/VA winning, only the chance to enter and compete in the Universal Sieger competition with an SG rating.

Julie, I can understand your frustration in regard to comparison. Sometimes, people do not always read an entire post, I too am guilty of that at times. I still find the whole situation very distasteful, and am rather surprised that others do not as well. I happen to like Jasper very much, and I enjoy watching him work. Maybe the fact that he is an actual HARD working dog from conformation lines has every one confused. When you see a dog like him, who is obedient, driven, fast, and can bite with a clear head, people automatically assume he can't be a show line dog. Then you add in that he looked great in the ring, handled by a seasoned pro who made it all look so effortless, makes you shake your head and go WTF, when a judge doesn't even look at the dog, and just dismisses him as something he isn't. Just another reason to add to my list why I prefer working dog trials over things like this.

Dog1 - can you tell us how many dogs are owned by each of those winning kennels, how many litters they produce a year, how many dogs/pups are co-owned behind the scenes, how many title their dogs abroad, and how many use "connected" handlers and trainers? Just curious. Also, did Herr Knaul really stay with the Henkels? No one has refuted it, and it keeps coming up. Maybe someone can clarify?

LaPorte, The answer to your first paragraph is no. The Judges stayed in the host hotel.
