Shelly says: "How can expect the respect of the world when we can't even train our own dogs? How can a born-again breeder (my term for people recently having shelled out a &*$#-load of money for German dogs with little or no history of involvement in the sport) accurately assess the working abilities/temperament of what they breed when they can't be bothered with learning the other half of the sport? (too busy with producing/selling puppies)" This is so true Shelly! It has been a pet peeve of mine for years now. You know what can make that even worse?!! I know of a so called "trainer" that has tons of time on his hands, albeit he has very few customers and it is his ONLY full time job.... Who is sending his young dog to Germany for training!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Can you top that???!!! LOL Debby ebinezer052899@yahoo.com

Most of you won¿t have success in the long run, because you didn¿t start at the beginning, but at the end. Breeding German Shepherds starts with the ownership of one dog, maybe unable to compete, but well loved and trained. After this experience you will buy your second dog, there may be the first success, maybe you earn a SchH title, maybe you earn a good rating on a show. One day you know a bit more about German Shepherds, their behavior, their pedigrees, and you decide to breed one litter. Out of this litter you keep the (hopefully) best puppy for yourself, raise and train it. Now you are a breeder! This process needs years of training, disappointment, and learning. A lot of people never breed their dogs, because they never are able to achieve all the requirements for breeding, but - if you believe me or not - they have a lot of fun with their dogs, and after a couple of years they know a lot more than anybody who read 100 books or watched 100 CD¿s about training and breeding a German Shepherd. You may be tired about my words, but money makes neither a trainer nor a breeder. Some Americans understood, and these Americans are the only ones that have success for more than a couple of years.
