"show organizers began breaking car windows to give dogs air" If this unthinkable and tragically criminal situation is true, then I can understand a reluctance to publish results. Those who left dogs in hot cars and had their windows broken should not get any results...and worse. It is a terrible reflection in the public eye on a national show where people are supposed to set an example of responsible dog ownership! Or of any show for that matter. In a world where just owning an intact German Shepherd is becoming illegal, this does not bode well for GSD owners and breeders. How very sad.

What are they thinking! I congradulate the memebers who busted the windows for the dogs. They should have had them arrested for cruelty. I do have a a question, the dog trailers, in high heat, can they be left safely in those?

We use a modified cargo trailer for our dogs. Top vent and windows, doors left open for air flow, wire crates for air flow, each crate has a fan, two stainless water buckets in each crate, one with water, one with ice. A pop-up awning can be placed over the top of the trailer to make shade.

Son of a B-tch-- I just turned on the computer, and commented on how hot it's getting on another thread--then to read about this poor puppy--I'm in shock. How awful.

Has anyone present at this incident notified the local authorities? To leave any animal in an obvious life threatening situation would at a minimum require they be prosecuted for animal cruelty. The fact that some folks broke the windows in cars to get dogs out of danger shows us there are people who will risk getting in trouble to save a helpless animal. If the individuals who attempted to save this poor dog and any others that were at risk find themselves being asked to pay for a broken window, please let me know where I can send a check to help them with the cost.

I'm sitting here numb. I don't really even know what to say. I travel two blocks with my dogs in the car. Put the AC on, but it didn't even start to get cool til we reached home---and I was frantic, because I could tell the heat was affecting them. Mind you, this ride takes all of 2 minutes, tops. I just can't believe this.

Don't be surprised if the AR people don't begin to show up at all dog activities. They scheduled a protest a few weeks ago at the Harrisburg AKC circuit. AKC people have been dealing with them for a few years now. They open the crates letting the dogs free saying it is cruel to keep them crated. Most padlock their crates now and do not leave their dogs unattended. Publicity such as the death of this poor little puppy will draw them like flies to you-know-what.

The Danbury police were on site and were checking cars.

Ani8mal control was there and the police and they were checking the parking lot all day. No windows were broken, but car doors and windows were opened in parked cars and in one case a locked van was opened to get a puppy out of it. It was a very sad situation.
