Shelley Strohl

Idiots. Like nearly everyone else there, I had lots of items in my van that I would be in serious trouble without had they been lifted in my absence. (Laptop, purse, camera equipment, the dogs themselves, our club helpers sleeve, my puppies themselves, yet the decision to leave my van wide open in the alternate parking area (a publicly traveled street well away from the main area) was no decision at all. I have never had anything removed from my vehicle at a USA or WDA event in twenty years of attendance and don't expect to in future. I did feel better having gotten up early to get a good parking spot inside, in the shade, surrounded by entrants/participants' vehicles the second and third days. Its absolutely unconscionable that ANYONE left animals locked in vehicles in the scathing sun any of the days of the event! I did hear the announcements on the loud speakers. They were loud and urgent. I would never have imagined that it would come to having to break into a vehicle to rescue an overheated animal such an event. What a pall this news casts over an otherwise fantastic weekend. God Bless the people who recognized the emergencies and took the initiative to spring to action in time! From now on I know I, for one, will be quite vigilant about peering into closed vehicles in event parking areas when its warm. Better to set off every alarm in the place than to learn something like this later. SS

Yes, it was tragic about that poor puppy. Unofrtunately, the owner did not park on the show grounds where people could have saved the little guy. It was in the hotel parking lot. I talked to a female Danbury Police officer who took down my cell phone number and had promised me to call as soon as she found out the name of the owner. I wanted to notify USA with that, so that person could be banned from our orgnaisation. But so far, I have not received a call. Maybe, USA officials should contact the Danbury PD about that. It would be just the right thing to do! But this is not limited to this event, it happens all the time. In Germany at the Sieger Show, they go around to check on vehicles with dogs in it too and announce license plates. One German guy yesterday told me that some people just don't care and talked about a case a few years back, where a female whelped a litter in the back of a car while the owners were attending the Sieger Show in the stadium. "... as soon as she found out the name of the owner. I wanted to notify USA with that, so that person could be banned from our orgnaisation." SURELY they would want to know and take some action, right? Wouldn't they be all over this? What a lovely incentive for potential host clubs - now on top of risk of losing money, dealing with rude behavior, dog-piles left everywhere, (and everything else), a potential host has to worry about the police, animal control, AR groups and poor pups dying in parking lots.

Could anyone give me the results from the 12-18mo class males????????

by Karen Henkel on 24 April 2007 - 01:04

To those of you who are contacting me privately for results, I am sorry to say I do not have them. To be honest, I had a Working Female whose place I don't even know. The results should be on the USA website. There must be a glitch somewhere. -Karen
