I have a sable bitch who is half show lines and half working lines. Her conformation is nice, very intelligent, but needs more drive. Her name is Xantana Vom Kirschental and you can find her pedigree here. She has her BH and her AD and will have her SchH1 this summer. We are hoping to breed her next winter so I am trying to find a male with working lines but I don't want to lose her confirmation, either in Canada or the North Eastern States. Any suggestions? Thanks. Lesley

Lesley are you wanting to breed to a hardcore working line male? If so I would suggest Belchik. Go to http://www.kiewelworkingdogs.com/belschik.htm to learn more about him. His Stud fee cost $2,500.00 USD but it's worth it, if you want to have working puppies. Download the belchik videos ( download *Belschik in the WUSV and progeny* as it's in better quality then the others.

Look for a good SG or V rated male who is all working lines, and who goes back on the old working show dogs like Marko Cellerland, Mutz Pzelterfarm, Johnny Rheinhalle. I would not linebreed on Troll due to possible size problems - just an opinion. If you want responses on this type of question, you should have an email address to which others can contact you.

I freely admit that I could be wrong, but didn't I read read somewhere that Belchik was no longer being offered for natural cover stud service, and that all breedings involving him were strictly via surgical artificial insemination?

I double-checked, and I *was* remembering correctly. Belschik is not available for natural cover, and in addition to the USD$2500 stud fee, the bitch owner can expect to pay the costs for shipping the semen canister as well, plus the cost of the insemination itself. More info on the subject can be found on this page: http://www.kiewelworkingdogs.com/ai_info.htm That being said, I don't know that I'd be willing to drop USD$2500+ to breed a maiden bitch. JMO

Orest vom Farbenspiel @ Vom Haus Drage: Bobby Oaster Stockton, CA http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/26857.html Orest was V9 at the USA sieger show. He truly did have the best protection performance there. Orest is a V rated dog that has the balls to perform. No bullshit crappy showdog pussy there.

Maybe Camp vom Muhlteich. He was V-109 rated in the BSZS and SG-13 in the BSP. I believe he is at Adel Haus kennels in Colorado, but he might be the kind of dog you are looking for here. I know he was retired from competition because of a car accident injury. Not sure about stud availability, though.

Since this is her first breeding, it may be nice to find someone closer to home to minimize her stress. There are alot of very nice V-rated, SchH3, KKL-1 working males out there. I see your dog on her mother's lines goes back to ommi-an excellent producing bitch. I have an Omo(Brother to Ommi) daughter. I just bred her to V-Kayos v. Karthago(full brother to Kimbo-BSP) who just arrived in the states. If you would like to email me privately, I might be able to help you more since I'm not sure where you are located and you don't have an email listed. Then maybe I would know of a stud closer to your area. my email is tcampbell@xta.com.

hexe, Maybe because Belchik is too old to continue doing natural breeding, lets try to remember that he's born on 6/18/92, he isn't young anymore but we shouldn't criticize him for being old. He has produced very successful working dogs that has gone to BH to SchH3's. If you want to have a good working dog then I would pay that much. again the video will prove to you of what he produces. Other then that... maybe the breeder doesn't want him getting hurt anymore? Maybe that something did happen to him but the breeder doesn't want to happen again so the safe way is AI.

Attempting a litter with an AI is NO easy ordeal, first you must deal with shipping the semen and HOPE they get to your vet in time, then you have your vet perform the AI and HOPE your vet does it right(Surgical AIs also pose a small risk to the bitch), then you pray that your bitch took. I have ALWAYS liked Champ, he has been used with a few show bitches in Germany, he has some very nice progeny. He stands in Colorado, (www.adelhaus.com). I think Champ may in fact be your best bet for maintaining structure and increasing drive. I have also always thought Vyck Von Haus Antverpa SchH 3, IPO3, FH2, KKL-1, CDX, OFA G H/E was a very good looking dog(http://www.schroederhaus.com/). V-Rex v. Karthago is also a good dog for maintaining structure and increasing drives. Rex is at stud in CA.
