Pretty said, isn't it 4pack? I've seen photos of imported showlines that are just as incorrect in other ways with remarks like - perfect movement.......flawless movement etc.  I don't dare put those links here LOL. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

"I always thought that Pedigree Database was created for The German Show and Working line German Shepherds."

Don't know where you got that impression.  Granted, almost all of the discussion here centers around German show and working lines and I doubt any Ambred fanciers would feel especially welcome here, but I've never seen any sort of "official" limitation to only German lines.

"Oli... Is the Pedigree Database now going to have American Shepherds being registered with dogs that do not do Schutzhund? OR DO NOT adhere to the SV Standard Breeding Practices, and now will be allowed to advertise?"

There have always been Ambred Shepherds in the database.  Certainly nowhere near as many as there are of German lines, but they've been there all along.  Anyone can register their GSD if they want to, and in my opinion the site is much more useful if it contains as much information about as many GSDs as possible regardless of personal preferences about the different lines.

And I would caution you not to look too far down the "Schutzhund Road," either.  Case in point: the person who started this topic is now advertising a litter from a bitch who is not Schutzhund titled on his website (this is NOT meant as a slam against Dennis in any way; he sems very knowledgeable and I am sure he is capable of recognizing breedworthiness and would not breed an unsuitable bitch.  Just stating a fact).

I agree with p59, the more peds the better. NO matter what lines. It makes research so much easier if everyone would post peds here. When I first read the Db I thought it was a showline dominant forum. Low and behold there are many more working lines people here than I would have guessed. Thats a great thing for me! =)

4pack,

The poor thing looks like it has a broken leg!  How can that be pleasing to the eye of ANYONE?  These dogs look like they'd be crippled with age.

Sire and dam were half-sibs.  Well, if she survived it without recessives killing her off, I guess she's got clean genes...

Is she actually pushing off with her hock here while her paw is off the ground? Or is it the timing of the shot. If so, why would anyone post that shot?

Dawn Bonome:  "...Is the Pedigree Database now going to have American Shepherds being registered with dogs that do not do Schutzhund? OR DO NOT adhere to the SV Standard Breeding Practices, and now will be allowed to advertise?..."

Dawn,  From what I see many of the people here do not follow the SV Standard Breeding Practices and heaven forbid anybody tell them they should title and OFA their dogs prior to breediing.  They say their dogs were prelimed or are working toward getting titles don't pick on us!  Too often I've seen bashings and reminders that we are in the US and the SV can't tell us what to do.  Obvious comment when you see what has happened to GSD's in the US.

I have the perfect solution.  Those that breed those ugly American Show Shepherds are just as pleased as punch with themselves and their tacky dogs, so why not change the name to American Show Shepherds, close their stud books & be done with it?  They could keep going down the path they have chosen & we wouldn't have to be embarrassed by them anymore.  The dogs are too far gone, they don't resemble German Shepherds in conformation, have no working ability and are total squirrels.

Animules, I agree with you 100%.  I also don't like the excuse that it's too hard to find a club to train with or the clubs are too far.  If that's the case then they shouldn't be breeding GSD's.  Period end of story.   Until they can consistently breed a better quality dog, they can at least follow the existing rules set down by the SV.

Yes this post shows the extremes of both sides (american show and german show) This is why everyone should just breed workinglines. lol. I know they have their faults too, but not quite this bad.
