Thanks for your contribution here. I agree with much of what you say and when it comes to workability I think that perhaps some people may think that I am in favour of only the Sport dog. What I am in favour of is a working dog that will do his assigned job in what ever capacity that is in a correct and competent manner and respond to his handlers commands when given. I am definately not in favour of the over hypo high drive sport dogs. For the biting exercise I want the dog to be confident and competent in his work, to take a firm full mouth bite and stay in until he get the command to come out. I do not want a fear biter, or, an over aggressive biter. Unfortunately, we see many dogs from all breeding families at the Sieger Show that bite then come off and bite again and again or nibble at the sleeve. For the situation that you have quoted regarding Zamp and Vegas the numbers of 36 and 29 animals presented are only a very small number of progeny from the total number produced by these two males. The number of progeny for each dog must be in four figures therefore the numbers that you quote represents some 2% or less approximately from each dog of the total of their progeny.
As I explained in an earlier post I have seen quite a few animals by Zamp and, when I lived in Spain, I helped with the training of a few of them. I found that all of them all had a good pet character but there was a reluctance to work in even the basic excercises. My friend there, an experienced trainer started his dog at 10 months for the BH but did not get a pass until the dog was 19 months old. His experience was the same as mine.
Hello Kerry
The only reason that I quoted Zony was that when I was looking through the Sieger results and pictures I saw him and, I thought that he was overall a good type and, when I looked at his breeding I thought that with a female to complement him he might be a good outcross.
Hello David
Nice to see that you have joined in this discussion albeit slightly off topic. It clearly does not apply to me because if you read anything that I have written you will not find one comment specifically advising anyone as to what they should do, or, not do. However, your comments are welcome and perhaps you will consider joining this discussion in a positive way and give people the benefit of your experience.

I am only a pet owner of showline German Shepherds and therefore not qualified to comment on this forum. I do however feel that I have to say I do not find your comments very helpful. I come here to learn about the GSD and what is going on in the GSD world. I originally visited this forum as I wanted to find out about showing, however after reading many of your unpleasant comments I decided that the showring was not somewhere I would like to be. I find the Videx website very useful and informative and have learnt a great deal from articles by both Videx and Sue B. For people like myself who come here to gain knowledge what could be learned from you? From what I have seen absolutely nothing other than nasty negative comments!

it would be interesting to note who the Breed council would direct you to for information on the breed. Still as you say you're an innocent !

I couldnt agree more Pencil, what also makes me laugh is that these two where at loggerheads and certanly didnt have a good word to say to each other on these boards not so long ago. Something to do with an nasty e-mail sent to Sue B from DP if my memory serves me correct.
