I will make no comment about the individual who thinks that a 10 month old GSD that will "bight for real" somehow constitutes bragging rights.
I will say that I wish I could flush my ethics down the toilet so that I could get into the "personal protection dog" business because there is big money to be made out there. Unfortunately I don't think I could live with myself if I pawned off a bunch of half-trained thin-nerved toothy growlers as a quality product. On the other hand, if I actually did breed and train a strong powerful true "protection" dog I don't know where I could find sensible customers who can acutally handle the legal and personal LIABILITY.
I haven't been around the block many times in the dog world and already I have seen so many pathetic "personal protection dogs". Suffice to say that it's amazing easy to convince a person to fork over BIG money for dogs of dubious value. All it takes is a frightened person who loves their family and feels a sense of threat, oh and... a fat wallet too. Amateurs are so easily impressed.
"If you love your family (and who doesn't) then you must PROTECT them from harm." "A personal protection dog is the only weapon that cannot be used against you." ...and so many other sweet lies...
Am I the only one who's seen a $20,000 dog run under a simulated threat? I think not!
Unfortunately breeding and training "police" dogs doesn't always get you much better. A city near me forked over $15,000 for a bomb dog that can't indicate on a hot dog. Too bad city council doesn't know a good working dog from a hole in the head, and so the tax payer's money is wasted year after year on "training expenses" and the mayor pats himself on the back for "protecting" the citizens. Ha!
