Uh,  Eisenhaus, you don't know what you're talking about. I understood and was answering as to her seller, not myself. You missed that, I guess. Capri's former owner did not "raise, train and title her." I had that done. I owned her for over 6mos. before she was imported. She was green when I bought her.  I was told she was not "for sale" but could be bought by the right person. I was lucky to have a wonderful reference. I paid for her, they took her home and trained, titled, and had her breed surveyed on my instruction and my dime.

I have never and will never chastise someone for giving up a dog if it's in the dog's best interest. As I have said numerous times, it's the revolving door types that get to me. Buy what you want so the dog gets bounced around as little as possible. It's not fair to buy pups and put adult expectations on them.

No matter how beautiful and sweet they were they still need to have what it takes to IMPROVE my lines. :( I have returned several because they just did not measure up. The fact that there are getting to be so many really nice V working line structure out there has inspired me as well as the fact that my current wls are getting to retirement age.

But here you post
There are circumstances where it's best to sell or rehome a dog, however, "not working out as expected" is a sorry reason to do so, imo. I have raised young dogs and sold them or given them away to better homes than I could provide THAT PARTICULAR dog for some reason, but to BUY a PUPPY and raise it, have it bond to you, and then dump it when it doesn't "meet expectations" because YOU WERE TOO CHEAP TO BUY A DOG FOR YOUR PURPOSES IN THE FIRST PLACE, well, I just think that sucks. If you want to breed, buy a breeding quality dog. If you want to show, buy a show quality dog. If you want to bond with a puppy for life, buy a puppy and keep

You're just copying what another already posted (because they can't actually find anything that horrible about me, so they make it up) so I'll help everyone understand where it came from.

Here is the post. Note I am not the author.

Joined: Mon Jun 16, 2003 03:16 pm Thanks all! Dolce is pretty close to perfect for what I want. Her temperament is flawless ie: confident, fearless and drivey. I am far from being a traditionalist! lol I am more of a rebel, because, isn't it the "traditionalist" state of mind that has gotten us into the predicament that we are now in? Meaning that work and structure are still far too rare! I understand about wl in the show ring and how some, if not most judges are biased against them, so I take one judge's opinion on one day as just that. It is not about winning.... it's about getting the deserved, honest rating.  I would love for Dolce to win, of course, but I am also a realist! lol Right now my goal for Dolce is to gain experience in the show ring. Because if a dog is not properly trained there is no way it will get a deserved or accurate rating. The judge just can not see what they need to see to make that judgment. So those out there that just do the one and done for the breed survey, are doing their dog a great injustice! Dolce is not my first wl and I do quite a few work/show crosses. The crosses are in the show ring ALOT, so I doubt that anyone was surprised by what I bring. lol  My show lines are well researched for temperament and working drives and I got Dolce to bring in MORE of that and still keep a good balanced temperament as well as correct structure.  Most of my working lines have gotten their SG and I have been content with that. I have been looking for several years for the "right" wl to add to my breeding program and have been terribly disappointed in what I have/ I am seeing/getting. FAR TOO MANY were nervier than my sls!! No matter how beautiful and sweet they were they still need to have what it takes to IMPROVE my lines. :( I have returned several because they just did not measure up. The fact that there are getting to be so many really nice V working line structure out there has inspired me as well as the fact that my current wls are getting to retirement age.  What I saw initially with the pedigree was fantastic to me!  Take another look if you haven't already... http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=1844085
LOTS of V structure, good hips, some stellar working competition etc. My interest was further fueled after I went to meet her mom and the litter as, they seemed to be everything I wanted in temperament also. All very outgoing but not over the top and the same with mom. Very social and no fear or hesitation at all and you could already see the good structure coming through. It seems to me that Capri is a great producer and I would highly recommend her and Boy!

Aside from the personal jabs going on, I'm with Gustav.  Unless everyone breeds their own dogs and keeps every single one cradle to grave, then this is hypocrisy.  Why people buy, sell, return, or re-home dogs is not really the public's business, that is between the buyer, seller, and breeder (when applicable).

What is the deal with you folks?  The OP....remember...Hans....he started the thread,  asked a "would you..."  question.  Simple, don't you think?  One could respond with "yes" or "no" or even "maybe" and follow with your reasoning and experience.  Instead a few of you, again, have decided to pounce on someone with posts that are absurd.  Some of you, like Troop, seem to only post to snipe at Jenn78.  It's getting old.  Either you think you're the Jenni78 police or you have a "crush" on her....that's how juvenile you sound.   Here, try this....

I wouldn't rehome.  That doesn't mean I haven't.  I once had a Lab whose sire and dam were both world class trialers and in the Hall of Fame.  However, when the pup was about a year old, after tons of training, bonding and being a member of our home, we were hit by hurricane Ike.  We lost everything and had to live for many months at a friends home while we rebuilt.  At the time it was just not fair to a pup of that potential to be with us.  After some soul searching I gave our very expensive pup to a friend who trials and hunts.  It was a better decision for the dog.  So in the scenario Hans presented I would not rehome but I do recognize that there are circumstances where I might think differently.

See, a post that answers the original question isn't that difficult.   Some of you folks should give it a try.
