Even more interesting, USA point spread in protection is 0, 1, 2, and maximum 3 points and the WDA spread 4, 6, 9, 16 points how does that happen?

When Schutzhund/IPO went from being a pass/fail breeding test to a game for humans the scoring and outcomes became political, divisive, and based on human interpretation or bias.  Nothing new to see here in these scores!!  The statement attributed to the German breeders that sums up scoring and competitions in dog sports is "Not all great dogs are champions and not all champions are great dogs".  Notice that the Germans don't even mention the handlers or trainers!!  Also worth noting that some who "qualified for the qualifier" or did not "qualify for the qualifier" could have had a different outcome with a different set of judges based on the score spread we see from "high level international IPO judges" at this event in all three phases??  However the fact is that every aspect of the 2013 qualifier is split along partisan lines .. USCA judges and GSDCA-WDA judges, track layers, helpers, etc..   The judges should have been brought in from Germany from the SV but they were not.  Hopefully 2014 will see some new "qualifier rules" and the teams will be chosen for the qualifier as each camp wishes without a qualifier for the qualifier.

There should be no criticism of the judges scores by the way!!  Just as in sports such as basketball or football or real football (soccer) the officials can differ on what they see without being biased or incompetent ,, it is just being human.  Usually there is but one score given in each phase so the options for scoring a phase is never known for there is but one score and as we know in IPO there is no instant replay or review.  It is always good to remember that the 5th place dog and handler might have been first place with another set of judges or a different judge.  Like basketball, soccer and football IPO is just a game.

SV judges are worse and why would we call in another country to assemble our team that will compete against theirs, that makes no sense.  As for being biased, you have a better chance of being swallowed up by a sink hole while walking to church then scoring up 2 and 3 categories.  If that was a USCA judge you would be ripping USCA up again..........

If Krista Wade scored 78 on one judges score card and 94 on another's for the same performance I would say she was swallowed up by a sinkhole on the way to church.  I hope it was some sort of mistake in recording the scores but if the 78 stands then SV judges could do no worse in the way of consistency than the home grown judges are doing on day one.  I don't know if one judge is scoring everyone too high or if they are both off but the point spread does not inspire confidence.  You do know that the WUSV is run by the SV and is 25% membership from the SV??  If the SV judges are so bad then perhaps there won't need to be a qualifier next year because the SV runs this WUSV rodeo.  The 88/97 score in protection is also a big difference so let's see how day two goes.  Perhaps the judging will tighten up on day two and only a few unlucky folks will get scored to death on day one.  One judge is USCA and one judge is GSDCA-WDA but both are trained and follow the SV standard so there should not be such a huge differential .. I have no idea which judge is scoring lower or higher and it really does not matter as they should both be scoring very close (2-3 points) of each other.

Why don't you wait for the official results before speculating any further?  Just a thought.
