My dogs are very controlled , I lease two as patrol dogs to the sheriffs dept, don't make assumptions , but just cause you can't pet them or take them to the dog park doesn't mean they're bad dogs , to the contrary that's what they were meant to be

LOL, no, when the wrong person gets bit.

Shawn, who is handling your leased "patrol dogs", in case nobody can pet them?
Or do you mean "guard dogs", sitting behind a fence, protecting a property?
Might be a language problem ?!?

Despite the temperament the dog is well managed and have never been in an unsafe situation.

Shawn, I trained these animals and traveled all over the USA and Quebec and Ontario performing with them. That's how I made my living... Both that horse and the braymer would have made mince meat of *you*! And handling tough dogs is easy for me. Like bav wagon so much as said; it's brains and leverage, not brawn that is affective in dealing with ANY animal...of any size.

Yup…police dogs. NO CONTROL NECESSARY. As long as the handler has the right collar/harness on and can hold the dog back with brute strength, no one cares. That’s not control. If that’s why women can’t handle those dogs…it doesn’t mean the dog is strong or hard, just means the dog hasn’t been taught to obey anything but a physical restraint. There’s plenty of dogs like that out there, majority of Schutzhund clubs are basically filled with them because people can’t train obedience and just let the helpers work their dogs up into a frenzy and everyone laughs and comments about how strong a dog is when it won’t listen to a simple sit command without a two handed prong correction. Put some pressure on that type of dog and try to teach them to cap or control themselves…99% of them will cower and come with half the power they have when no one is asking them to actually think.

Shit happens! And then ... well. $$$$$

Curious, now, what do you do about vacations? Usually with a dog like that, there aren't any.

And medicating your dog into compliance is really a last ditch effort. I know, been there, done that. If you were half the trainer you yap on about, you'd be re-reading Laura's posts about Bosco, and realize what is good advice and then your own lack of skills in the telling.

Yes, you're right, should be anecdotal.

There are successful women trainers/handlers. Keep that in perspective though. Only a small percentage of the population participates in dog training. Even fewer participate in bitesports, even fewer participate in Civil focused protection training. Any woman active on forums like this who is comfortable with a Hard Civil dog; represents only the tiniest percentage of the population as a whole.

Sometimes life dictates to us how things are and we don't get to choose. Gender differences are one of those things. A few exceptions here and there don't overrule the fact that men and women are different.
