Looking for opinions on the cost of a retired SCHH titled breeding bitch. My only concern is the bitch has been tossing out pups for the last 3 or 4 years and has not been worked since she got her title. So I would want to find one already in the USA that can be checked out in person.

anywhere from $500-$1500 would be my guess,  if she's spayed and won't be producing anymore (and besides hasn't she already paid for her self with 3-4 litters already)

why do u want to buy a retired breeding female? there is a reason why she is retired. If you plan to do a good deeds thens its ok but then you should convince them to gove it for a better price

Cost should be free.... but maybe this is why I'm broke:) I have no respect for someone who sells an older retired breeding bitch, after she worked hard for you in the box. Maybe if a bitch was retired early say 4-5 and could work high level for a couple years then OK charge the price of a pet pup or something. JMO

Why wouldn't someone just give away a retired brood bitch, or maybe just charge a few hundred "adoption" fee to a good loving home?

I am with Danny on this one, we never part with our bitches when past breeding age, we tell all our customers who buy puppies that a dog is for life and we practice what we preach, pity more breeders dont do the same

I would think the best thing to do with any retired...dog...would be to find a friend that wants a good dog and let them live out the rest of their life in a good...loving home...

Where do I sign up for the free ones? (Just kidding.)  I was thinking a retired breeding bitch might be an option for a newbie to Schutzhund, depending on the age and condition of the dog.

Retired means retired.
Time for the good life, not more work.

Retired from breeding doesn't mean retired from Schutzhund. Depending on age and health, I would think the dog might enjoy some time on the field, within reason. Do Schutzhund dogs retire at age 6? That's the aveage age I've seen of retired breeding females for sale. This isn't a dog that would be trialed or be used for competition.
