Does anybody have any ideas on how to keep a 8 month old pup from turning her water over on her head?
I know she thinks it is fun and ti cools her off, but she dumps it within minutes of my filling or refilling it and it is supposed to break 100 degrees this weekend.
I have tried two snaps on the handle of the bucket so it couldn't  move side to side. I've tried a snap on the handle and one on the side of the bucket.
Someone suggested placing the bucket in a  bucket ring with snap on the handle, but I have been unable to find the rings, though I know they are out there.
I've thought about a 5 gallon bucket because of the weight. The problem is that the buckets are plastic and we all know what great chew toys GSDs think they are.
Anything bigger would become a wading pool. She would still have water but yuck!

I use a shallow pan, Indy won't flip it but he still lays his face in it.   I have to change water several times a day.
He's gotta be part water dog, I can't keep him out of any source of water, if nothing else he'll find a mud puddle.
Can't wash a car or water the garden while he is free.   Its something I've never seen the likes of before.
Good luck!!!!

Avoid snaps, chains, handles, or anything they can get hung up in.

I would go for the wading pool, yes the water will end up grotty but atleast she will have water. It still is better than some of the water our dogs get into when they are out on hikes.

I tried a wading pool last year but it quickly turned into a breeding ground for mesquitos. And it was tough to dump it out everyday to keep the water fresh. I'm using a heavy duty 5 gallon plastic pail right now and it's working great. Neither dog can tip it over and it's too tall to get their legs inside for spashing. Bella managed to move it across the cement a few feet but that's about it. It's been almost a month and so far no tipping or chewing. I dump it out at least once or twice a day to keep the water fresh. Too many bugs around here to let water sit very long. But the 5 gallon pail works great. My neighbor was throwing them out so grabbed a few.

We had the same problem with our food dish until my husband came up with a kooky idea!

He made a mold out of cardboard, large enough for the food bowls,  filled them with cement and then put the bowls in and let the cement dry.  Our male flipped my husband off and started dragging the bowls, cement and all, around the yard!!

My husband took Gorilla Glue and glued the bowls down on the patio.........problem solved and he has yet to figure out how to move the bowls!

Anka, we need pictures of some of this "water sport" activity.
