I don't know if this is good or bad, my 5 year old bitch was mated 20 days ago, I was doubtful that she would be pregnant as she was presented to a very experienced stud on two consecutive day and on both days only managed to have slip matings (she was very difficult to mate, each time he almost tied she worked her muscles and pushed him out). Now on day 20 she is really filling out behind the ribs and in the loin area as it is early to see changes I am thinking she is possibly having a phantom. HOPING FOR PUPPIES. She will have an ultra sound in about ten days.

We had this situation with a female form my kennel, her first breeding at nearly 3, twice slip matings as you describe. I did not think it would work and forgot about it (she is not my female but I was interested in the litter as both parents I bred and we want to present progeny of the male). The owner also forgot until she started looking bigger, had an ultrasound and the vet said no puppies, false pregnancy. She had 6! Good luck with yours!

oso What a great result. This female of mine is almost 5 years old and so far she has had 1 false pregnancy and 1 litter of only 2 puppies so I am very anxious this time around, she is a lovely bitch with excellent hips and elbows and breed surveyed class 1.

The expectant pedigree is ---- Sire Kwint v Juerikstall and Dam is Cossavane Bedazzled AZ BS CL 1

Kwint was on loan to NSW and was to return to Vic the day after the mating took place other wise I would have tried for another mating 2 days later. The puppies will be line bred to VA 5 (Spain) Enzo vom Schornfelsen 5/4.
