Very funny Arbeiter, hardly when the KC and ‘Alsatianists’ haven’t been renowned at being keen on health testing either.

If you want to get pedantic Missbeeb, change it to, as you said - most people on here do all the tests.  Not most on here, and the case in point was agreeing to wait until 2012 to do mandatory health testing in the first place.  If breeders are not all health testing now, how do you propose to get it right by 2012?   Please share your wisdom.  No amount of smoke screening will blind the public, they want healthy dogs.

Puleeeeeze... you couldn't give a rat's ass about the general public, you get off on poking holes in good news!  That whole righteous tone of what you do...  voluntarily oh yeah and you don't even breed... (there is a God) loads of people in the same boat, Mark.  Do you walk on water?

Planning is everything... you've heard, "fools rush in...., marry in haste, more hurry- less speed, look before you leap"... need I go on?

by Mark3 on 06 April 2010 - 17:04

Yes Missbeeb, you do need to go on, what planning is needed to do health testing, other than booking dogs into the vet and getting x-rays done?  What is foolish about doing heath testing?

In case you haven’t noticed, I am a member of the public.  If you insult me like this, you are insulting the rest of the public.  Whether I breed or not, is of no consequence.  If you are wanting public support, you won’t get it like this!  There is probably more of the public reading these posts than you realize, since the link was published in a 'Dogs Today' magazine.

Ahhhhh... so you thought you'd get yourself in print!  Who mentioned that health testing was foolish?   Only you, me thinks!

We're ALL members of the public... and you are being deliberately obtuse, not sure how much effort was needed for that.

No Missbeeb, I have no intention, need or inclination to get myself in print.  I simply cannot understand why you think agreeing to wait until 2012 for mandatory health testing is in the breed’s best interest.

You said…

‘2012 is absolutely fine and workable’

‘2012 would seem reasonable to most’

‘2012 gives enough time to get it right’

How can 2012 ‘get it right‘?

‘Planning is everything... you've heard, "fools rush in...., marry in haste, more hurry- less speed, look before you leap"...

The schemes have been in place for years - what planning is needed to do health testing, other than booking dogs into the vet and getting x-rays done?

For heaven's sake man, were you at the VERY end of the queue when sense was being doled out?  How many times do you need to hear it, before it penetrates?

Hi Sue re: 2012 I believe it was Jim H who mentioned that date, I am aware that there are those who use the SV scheme and not the BVA, but I also agree that to have any grievance against the KC re mandotary Health testing then everyone should be already using the elbow scheme and not just hips and haemo, I have since 2005 others have since the start of the scheme in 1998, even those that breed for coat and colour have been using the scheme more proactively in the last 18 months, obviously only to tick boxes from a selling point of view rather than health has they will use dogs/bitches with a grade aswell as bitches with high hip scores.
