I actually know where Jordan is. LOL Do you have a club anywhere near you ? If you have passion, maybe you load the dogs up and move to where you can work dogs a lot.

I started off with the Disney version of what dogs are. If I had my choice, I would probably go back and never figure this shit out. I do think less of dogs overall. However, when I see a dog work with great character, I still get a little rush from it.

 Jeff,

This is an international forum, guys who post here, comment, give info and discuss GSDs are very few compared to those who watch, read and learn, just go to any post you would find the number of viewers much higher than posters.
All what you say here whether correct or wrong, a personal impression or view has an impact and a value more than what you imagine. From Jordan I know 10 members who only read, they do not post.

No dog clubs in Jordan, not yet but hopefully there will be soon, people are more aware of training importance nowadays.

Some of the guys here are overseas popular, when me and some of my friends  get together and have dog discussions some of the names here keep coming up, I am sure that is true in other places of the world

 Jeff,

I feel I have to add this, a new person to GSDs becomes aware first of the B/T color (show) and the beauty of structure and movement, then of the Sieger show in Germany then the VAs, then much later he starts being aware of the other GSD colors and the work type and traits etc. This is what happens at least here in this part of the world.
People here do not care much about winning in the shows or SChH as they are not available, they all want a beautiful dog with a strong character who can protect family and property or be a deterrent for intruders. I can understand if this means a shit to you, lol.

Best dog I own isn't territorial at all.  He'll fence fight with other dogs, but kind of like Jeff says, it's just "for fun".  Dog's that do act territorial, it's pretty much always the nerves talkin.  Some of 'em might get over it quick, and disregard their initial defensive behavior after a deeper discriminatory assessment.  Some take longer to feel less threatened.

Maybe it's best to consider defense/insecurity as one thing, and protection/aggression as another.  The idea being, to channel the aggression through the dog's prey drive.

Even to the point where the GSD has it's own nationals and what not. That dog was forged out of the French and Belgian ring sports.

one of the simple reasons you dont see many GSD in ring is that they want a pushing bite in ring , where GSD are mainly pulling after the bite ,
second and most important reason is  , malinois are a national breed in belgium , and its a belgium originated sport , created by the belgium shepherd breeders

the reason why you see schh trained GSD fail in ring is NOT because they were trained in defence , because no schh dog is trained in defence , but because  every schh training is build up over prey , also mine dogs with more than average defence/sharpness are build up over prey , because that is what you want in schh , or the dog wont bite the arm , but go for the closest part  he can get

furthermore , defence and insecurety are two totally different things

So, the difference being.......?  Defense is neither insecure nor aggressive, neither fight nor flight?
