ok steve ..let me just make sure I understand you correctly....

You are not against raw feeding.
In fact you would like to feed your dog raw but unfortunatley due to prices and storage you can not...right?...

so I must be missing something....so we all agree that we want to feed raw it's just some of us like you and me just can't afford it to do it 100% ..so if we all agree...... O_o

No' not quite correct, I would try one Dog on Raw just for my own satisfaction, As i said i fed my first Pup Raw in 1949 but a type of Raw he had the Bones from the Butcher little meat on them as Mother took most off for the Kids. However he had the left overs or Scraps of our food added to his Bones sometimes he got a bit of rough Chicken but thats about it, He never went hungry well no more than we did certainly he was never fat
However Raw is not an option for me unless things change rapidly.

My dog Hero will not eat raw chicken even if he's starving, he just walks away......raw of any kind makes him sick, and chicken is the worst and he knows it. Hero also walks away from anything that has wheat or corn in it......

He was doing fine on Origen Regional Red until they changed the formula (it stinks and I couldn't stand it smelling up the house) and now he's happy with 6 cups of TOTW bison and lamb mixed half and half.......His coat shines, he has plenty of energy, he's much happier now.

Every dog is different, you have to search and find what is best for each individule - some may do better on raw, some may do better on Old Roy and some may do better on TOTW.......

I don't understand why some people (especially the feed raw folks) feel they have to stand on their soap boxes and shout that their way is the best and the rest of us are stupid!

I think that the reason that rew feeders think that they know better is, because many have learned that healthy food that is fresh and raw can only be the most heathy food for a dog and dogs digestive system are not as a human or prey animal, its a very different system and its like as humans can live on bad diets like junkfood and severel other bad food items but the inner organs are better of with naturel healthy food with naturel vitamins and minerals, that are more easy to digest for both humans and other living things.

and this is not just something we are making up it is proven thathealthy naturel food is better for your overall health.

I do know that there are dogs that cannot cope with raw food and is better off with kibble, but a dog that is not able to digest what its meant to be eating, has a genetical fault because of breeding dogs that is not eating raw ,so breeders dont know iff their dogs have this fault in their system.

Dogs that eat kibble does not use the same enzymes as with raw food that is why dogs on kibble often has trouble shifting to raw especially if it has been on kibble for many years and many of the functions the pancreas and liver has shut down if not used.

I do not think much about dogs that wont eat raw or a generelly a fussy eater, the dogs lack naturel food drive and if the dogs wont eat other than kibble I hope that people wont breed them because fussy eaters are genetical.

In my house the dogs must eat what is served,if they wont eat they dont get anything else ,even if they had not eaten in 6 days ,they will eat when hungry.

I dont have problem with food, they willeat what they get raw or kibble.

not worth answering .......

Well that was rude and unnecessary. You're just mad because no matter what you feed your dogs, they get the squirts.

6 cups? Really, Sitasmom? That's a lot of food. Your food bill must be outrageous.

I have said before, if you don't want to feed raw, then don't. It's not illegal to feed your dogs dog food. But don't try to say they won't eat it or they shouldn't eat it or it makes them sick or any of the other ridiculous stories. Just say you don't want to and you don't want people making you feel guilty about it. It's simple!

A dog will eat when it's hungry. A dog will get diarrhea if overfed. A dog will get diarrhea if it has a weak digestive system and you give it a lot of fat it's not used to (poultry skin, marrow, etc.), but I can honestly say I have never, ever, not even once, no matter what a dog was used to eating before I got it, had a dog get diarrhea from raw food. In fact, I give new dogs raw right off the bat to try to avoid digestive issues associated w/stress, travel, coccidia, etc.

I sure hope no one is breeding these picky, weak dogs that keep being brought up. Yikes.

I am intrigued with the saying 4 or 6 cups of kibble, This i think is an American expression, What do you mean by 6 cups of kibble for your one dog, How big is a cup and how much does that cup hold that does interest me a lot
Me i feed by weight of Kibble not as the Guide says but my own intuition of what i think the dog needs at the time, Weather plays a part but one thing is certain my Dogs eat as if they are really hungry but i give it to them by hand in there bowl one small amount at the time, this way they do not bolt the food down,  Or if i am tracking i take there meal with me and what i use to lay the tracks comes off the meal even though it may be a different stuff to the kibble they eat, but then i always finsh a track with some of there Kibble and not of what i laid the track with.
I hear many over in the USA mention so many cups of kibble but none say how big or what a cup holds
