Hi Steve:  1 cup = 8 ounces = 1/4 litre or 250ml.

siantha, check also on craigslist.org in your area.  sometimes you can find a really good quality freezer for a very reasonable price (and depending on the brand, they can last forever).

i use raw when traveling.  i take a regular cooler (igloo or styrofoam), and pack it with frozen food, and feed it as it thaws (or feed it frozen if it hasn't thawed).

when you have some experience with raw, you'll understand this next part.  if their food thaws, and is cool...or is warm...or starts to smell (which actually takes a while)...i will still feed it, and they will still be fine.  as long as it's not turning green and black, lol.

or, if you don't want to pack and haul dog food, you can always go to a local market/butcher/supermarket, and buy meat there on an as need basis.  dogs that are fed raw (that have already adjusted to it) don't need any transitional periods between foods, or gradual introductions.  one less thing to worry about.

Fed a raw diet since 7 weeks, she turned 2 yesterday.

She has had slower growth and was more proportional while growing. She has always been very lean. I personally prefer a raw diet and have for 3 years now. All of my dogs do well on it and I will be switching our 8 year old German Shepherd Rescue over to it soon. (cold turkey switch)

This is just my preference though...

Sue
Many thanks, in that case Gina is being fed Two full cups a day cups a day one morning one in the evening around 16.25 oz a day, then of course she gets a few Greens & Carrots added a couple of times a week but that it,
she weighs in at 63lb in weight coming up 13 months old, I would not say she would not eat more but she does not get it,
I purposely weighed the food out this morning just to see how it compared to you Guys in the USA
but then not all kibbles weigh the same, Orijen and Acana weigh heavy
Sitasmom seems to feed a lot to her dogs, i do wonder if she has made a mistake in her calculations,  for it is true overfed dogs will get the Runs, Just the same as us humans do when we over eat

Sitamom

no one is forcing you to use kibble that is up to you, but if youre trying to tell me that its because of your dog wont eat chicken thats because the dos lacks fooddrive, and because many of the genetical genes that gives fooddrive is passed on when breeding (sorry)

I see more and more dogs witch owners can't get them to eat or that they are fussy eaters, because humans breeds this genetical fault and the case of it they aggavate the problem by bying different kinds of food just because they tell that the dog wont eat what the have bought.so they buy and buy and the problem gets worse and worse.

only one way will help

deside witch food to gie put the food in the bowl give the 5 minutes to eat if he wont eat then don't  do anything but remove the food and the i given the next day until he eats.and the dog will eat, many dogs then realize that the owner will give in after him and eat,and with many dogs you will increase the instinct to eat when its possible.

even if the dog has not eaten in 6 days that is not a problem it will eat its just a matter of time.

to thase of you that can't afford to feed raw. i have dairy farms all around me and am fortunant that they sell me their downer cows.i njever said sick cows, there is a differance.
a downer cow is a beef that can't walk into the slaughter house. example:broke leg, dislocated hip, shoulder. this is the type we get and chunk into 30# to 40# chunks.this much will do for a few days,at least a couple.
i feed a chunk about the size of a fist 8 oz. or so a feeding.along with this i feed iams kibble.we feed the heart, lungs, liver and the tripe, cleaned.
hope this might help someonewho wants to feed meat but cant affoerd it. i start feeding meat as soon as they start eating.
