Looks like 363 total entered if I counted right :) 37 in my females class 12-18 month!! I counted 11 known VA males entered, 55 working males total entered :) I'm prepared to keel over from running in my females class, and I don't want to think about the working class LOL!! Luckily I have a second caller, my hubby this year, hopefully that'll help, last year wasn't too horrible cuz my male is pretty well show trained but you've still gotta run some cuz its the sieger show!!! LOL! If I don't make it out alive it was nice knowing you all!!! See you there!!

Look at the quality in the male class! It's going to be a tough battle to pull a VA spot at this event. Some are going home with less than they came with. The judge could fill the class with existing VA dogs in the VA group and some VA dogs would still go home without a VA.

First order of business. Who will pass the performance test? How hard will the test be? Too hard and the field of entries dwindles down to only a handful in the ring. Not tough enough and there's more room at the top.

Will the performance test be factored into the final placings this year as we have seen in the past or will it be a pass/fail that gets you into the ring on equal turf with only the progeny as a factor? How importand will the progeny be? Will progeny prevail over previous high placings at the world show? Which teams will present the best total package?

Dog1,

Although I do have my own male entered I do want to pass along the fact that I am rooting for your sable dog Waiko too, I just love a nice showline sable and am looking forward to seeing all the sables you are bringing to the show! I just had a litter a couple of months ago bred to a sable male in Germany, V70 at this years BSZS, but alas I did not get the sable female I was hoping for, I got one really nice male that was of course sold before he was born and the only sable female was stillborn, needless to say I was very sad. Someday though I'll find my perfect sable female :) Good luck to you at the show and we'll see you there :)

Curiosity has been killing me so I'm finally going to ask. Does anyone know if someone in the US really did import a German VA male, and if so which dog it is?

Barbie,

Thanks for the kind words. We have our work cut out for us. We were able to accomplish our goal. There were many that supported Waiko over the past few months. Waiko is the only non VA male presenting a group this year. Of the dogs entered, Waiko has the largest group. His group consists of 14 offspring from 4 kennels, out of a total of 14 kennels that bred to him. We travelled to IL, MA, PA, AL, VA, NY to make breedings happen. We really appreciate the help from those that supported us in our effort.

Along the way we were able to get a few into show homes and involve new people in the sport. In Waiko's group there are 6, almost 50% of the entries belonging to first time participants. Three entries are from kennels where this is their first event. We hope these 6 new people become involved as others have, myself included, from the thrill of having a puppy in competition.

It's important to understand and here's the purpose of this thread. This show has 10 progeny groups. That's 9 other people doing the same thing we're doing,,,,supporting a dog, bringing people together, getting new people involved in the sport, expanding the member ship of the clubs. It's what this country needs for the sport and breed to grow. And (this is a big AND) it's not just for the showdogs. AS we have seen the working dogs can benefit too. Show your dog, show the progeny, see what working lines can also produce structure.

It's tough deciding which ones to enter. Right now I have some entered that looked good when the entries closed a few days ago that do not look as good as some of those I didn't enter. Logistics, time of year, schedules, etc., kept some from entering. Here's a few you won't see at the show.

From our friends in MA. This little guy really struck me as a contender. Super personality, structure and movement.

From our good friends in OH and one of Waiko's first litters in the US.

Leslie,

There are many VA dogs entered and some very high placing dogs from Germany entered all hoping to grab a VA spot. There are no German VA dogs entered as rumored.

Here's what I see in the class:
  • Taureg who was V8 in Germany
  • Odin who was previous multiple VA in the US with a group of 11 or 12.
  • Quizno who was previous VA in the US.
  • Zambo the WUSV Universal Sieger, multiple VA and presenting a group of 6.
  • Larus who was SG10 in Germany, previous VA in the US, presenting a group of 9.
  • Arak who was SG7 in Germany.
  • Waiko who was SG22 in Germany, presenting a group of 14.
  • Xenox who was SG24 in Germany.
  • Aexel who was SG34 in Germany.
  • Baru who was V19 in Germany.
  • Ando previous VA in the US.
  • Tyson, previous VA in the US with a group of 8.
  • Solo SG44 in Germany.
  • Camillo SG40 with a working performance award in Germany
  • Yupp V59 in Germany
  • Liedo SG59 in Germany
  • Zanto SG42 in Germany
There's a group of 17 and I may have left out a few that all meet the requirements of previous dogs that have been awarded VA. Judging from the size of the class it looks like 7 or 8 VA slots available to a very competative class. I can't remember when we've had such a strong working male class.
